Ability to pan while drawing 3 points spline

Post by Soom »

Right now I need to use the 3 point spline a lot, and I really miss the ability to pan the screen during dragging the line. The problem is, sometimes I am zoomed in in order to have more precision, but at the same time I don't see parts of the drawing to where I am supposed to drag the line. It would be really nice to have this ability.

But, you can already zoom in and out once you made the first "line", before applying the spline.

Just use Alt + Right mouse button + move to left / right to zoom out / in while you are doing the curve.

Aha - but that's the whole point - I want to be able to do it while dragging the first line, because sometimes I cannot see where I have to finish, because the end point is out of sight.

Ok ! Hmm... I don't think that can be possible, because the click is "stronger" than the key.
I mean, you can't click, then use a key, it's always the contrary.

For example, let's say you want to move several layers using the same color group at the same time, you must hit CTRL on your keyboard, then move the layers. If you click on the layer to move them and hold CTRL after, it's too late.

There is some exceptions with SHIFT to draw straight lines or squares, but I don't think we can apply it for ALT or CTRL...

Anyway, I'll see with developers :)

Soom, i'm not sure i follow your workflow.
But i would suggest you work with two (or more!) project windows open, one zoomed in and one giving you an overview
if thats not enough you can have one open for the begin point, one for the end point and one for the overview.

make sure you are in windows mode, key: V
then add another project window, key: M

I might want too much, but in Photoshop no matter what you do, you can click SPACE in the middle of the operation, drag the screen to wherever you want, and continue working without interrupting the process. That's where I got used to such a convenient feature.

The workflow is pretty simple - some clean up processes require very smooth curved lines, and I use the 3 point spline tool for that. Sometimes I start dragging the spline, but realize, I don't see the end point, so I have to cancel it, drag the screen a bit, and then draw again.
What you suggest would take longer and more space on the screen - it's too cumbersome (the idea is to zoom in as close as I can for precision and keep the screen as empty as possible in order to see more of the drawing).
Anyway it's not a big deal.
