Improvements required for Faux-Fixe and Repeat functions

Post by Soom »

It would be very useful, if behavior like Repeat, or Faux-Fixe would actually represent the real frames structure. Right now it's really limited. For example - there is no way to apply an FX on the post-behavior part of the layer. Means I need to copy paste my cycles all along to make it work. I understand the limitations of post-behavior, and would think that Faux-Fixe would fixe it, but no - Faux-Fixe doesn't repeat the frame structure - it treats each exposure as a separate frame, which means an FX cannot be applied on Heads Only, which makes it also useless in case animation is not on 1s, which usually is the case...

Just tried it: some irregular frames drawn, then repeated with faux-fixe, select all frames, apply FX, recompute - the original frame structure was there, just with faux-fixe converted to real frames (the same as when I merge layers).

I don't get your problem.

Not if you use resize, transform or z-depth, or any other FX that changes the actual drawings - can't recompute this

There is no way to apply "On Heads" on Faux-Fixe too - that's the main problem

Create empty layer, merge with original layer, apply FX as you like it?

Haha - but thats the same as copy paste the original cycle several times - it requires even more clicks: create layer, merge, rename, change color group (since merging doesn't preserve neither of them, which is a drawback too in my opinion), and apply FX. In copy / paste method - CRTL C, CTRL V several times, delete the last unnecessary frames, and apply FX - as you see - less clicks. Yet i see no reason not letting an FX read the HEADS even in Faux-Fixe... Just a weird limitation.

In my workflow I apply FX before I use faux-fixe, especially size changes.

THat's exactly not the point - otherwise I wouldn't ask :)
how can you do this if you have a walk or run cycle walking along the screen - you need to apply the keyframer FX on a cycle along the scene...

In that case I'd have a source layer with the cycle on repeat, and a new long layer for the applied cycle over screen. And I don't have irregular frame intervals with this, but rather animate on 1's.

I just tried this and this is not working - it still treats all frames as 1's, and cannot apply the transformations on Heads Only. animating on 1's is no good solution in my case - that's exactly why I want to solve this...
