The mixer is a very powerfull coloring tool that is unfortunately a bit cumbersome to use.
Not the mixer itself is the problem but the loading of a new image.
Now this has to be done by importing a mixer from a location on your system, outside of TVPaint.
While in practise it is very likely that you will be creating the mixer-image inside tvpaint
and therefore it makes little sense that you first have to export it as an image using the exportpanel and then import it back in in the mixer.
a lot of time is lost on these steps where a simple drag and drop could suffice.
if drag and drop is to much asked it could be done via the custombrush:
let the mixer have an option; mixer from custombrush
or the same thing but via the clipboard
you could even add this option in the clipboard menu:
Edit>Clipboard> get mixer from clipboard

I understand what you want, but I don't really get why you need it ?
Looks like I have some problems to understand the forum today...

Why?Elodie wrote:I understand what you want, but I don't really get why you need it ?

because we want to be able to much easier create custommixers
Now to create a mixer like in the image takes a lot of steps, especially if you create the image inside tvpaint. (that point alone already doesn't make sense)
So with only little (i suspect) effort on your side, you can remove most of the barriers, and the process of creating custom mixers would be much easier for us!

once again, when we will work on the palette, everything we re-think and rebuilt.

Ok, I understand only now... Sorry, blonde...
In fact, you are asking for a simpler way to turn a color schema made on TVPaint into a mixer, without exporting the image before loading it into the mixer.
Okay, that clearly makes sense ! Let's add it in the todo list !

And I would like to add my own request and a new argument for it:
http://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7260" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I also like to make the colors inside TVPaint. Normally, I export an image to import it to the mixer (as Peter described). When you export an image to use it as a mixer, you have to think about the dimension of it, before you export it. You have to calculate how much space you will have in your User Interface to scale the mixer. Than you get an idea of the dimension the image should have. In my opinion, this is too much technically thinking on an easy thing.
That's why I asked for possibilities to drag it. You can use any dimension of a picture and don't have to think about scaling, resizig, exporting .... It would make the mixer much more usable. I use the mixer very often and making a images for the mixer it is one of my standard steps when coloring.
Another great Thing would be a possibility to freely scale the image inside the mixer. Maybe by using a slider.

Re: Palette Mixer improvement
Thank you for "upping" your request !
But I think this one would be a little more complex to add. Maybe not for a version 10.
I add it in our Todo list anyway
