Okay, I will add options to adjust the width of the "hot-zone".

I will also add a special "ramming-switch" mode. You ram the cursor at high-speed and it smashes its way into the other monitor. You can adjust the ramming velocity and angular tolerance (if you ram the cursor at an oblique angle it'll "bounce off" instead of "breaking through".

I plan to make the adjustment so that it asks you to ram the cursor into the monitor edge and that will set the velocity and angular tolerance.

I also want the hot-zone to be set by an intuitive click -- more intuitive than having to punch numbers and experiment...

Okay, I added in a "fabrice mode" for people with reversed monitors hahahahahaha! =P
Ok, it works : I can hear the sounds each time my cursor goes into a new monitor. :D thaaaaanks !!

but ... I have the same problem here :
oh, a last thing :
when I set the display area on "Monitor 1", it works with the mouse,
it effectively switches the monitors when I cross from one to the other,
but it doesn't work with the stylus, staying to "Monitor 1" . Sad

Hmmmm... this is perplexing.

Could you post your wacswitch.ini? Just paste it into your reply. Also, are you performing a double-bump or a single-bump? it requires you to tap the cursor twice -- and don't stray too far from the edge.

You'll hear a "click" when your cursor hits the edge-zone for the first time
Then a "drip" when your cursor exits the edge zone. At this point, move your cursor to the right again. That should trigger the switch. (you'll hear a "ding!")

Also, for the time being, I've put in double-bump and triple-bump switching modes, and am currently adding in the "Ramming switch" mode, and I'll upload the new version once its tested and ready.

Okay Zig -- your flamethrower is ready...

Imageversion notes are at the top of the thread:

Download Latest Version

Also, when you set the tolerance/ramming speed interactively, keep in mind that the stroke you set is the "most sloppy" stroke that the system will accept. So don't try to be absolutely perfect when you're setting the tolerance -- you want the system to be a little forgiving.

I've also added in new sounds:
  • a glass smashing if you successfully "rammed through".
  • a glass tapping if you didn't hit hard enough.
  • a hard glass scraping sound if you hit hard enough, but you came in at an odd angle.
  • a light glass scraping sound if you didn't hit hard enough, and came in at an odd angle.

héhé!.... terrific!

first time, I can't make it work, probably too much intolerant in Ramming switch mode,
(I didn't understand exactely how to learn it a new higher tolerance in speed and angle),
and staying desesperately Monitor 1's prisoner in double-Bump mode, ...
then I decided to exit, and to edit the .ini file to try with different values, re-start wacswitch.exe,
and now, it works fine, in both mode!... yep hee!!!
that's great, thank a lot Lemec, you know what? you're my favorite hacker! :D

oh, a little comment about the sound files, at first, I thought something was wrong
when hearing the glass smashing sound, but after reading carefully your last post, it seems that's correct,
though I think this sound is mostly more often associated to "fail" than to "success",
so I would prefer the soft and friendly "monBink" sound, the "successful crossing from one to the other" signal
could be the same, whatever mode you have chosen to do it.
anyway, it's good to have the sound support to "debug" and tweak your settings,
after that done, I suppose everybody 'll turn off the sound option.

a very last thing, could you add in your top thread notice, (SWITCHING BETWEEN MONITORS chapter),
few words about how it works in Ramming mode, it would be perfect.

maybe a little bug? (v1.30)

when I turn off the play sound option, it stops to play the "success" sound (glass smashing sound),
but the others, (glass tapping, hard glass scraping, and light glass scraping sounds) are still played.
and still they are audible also in mouse mode.

Wow very nice work marc.

first it didn't really work for me ... for the same reason as zig,
i had troubles getting back from my smaller second monitor
had to often try about 3 or sometimes up to 6 or 8 times
but now with the ramming option its a blast!
thank you very much for this!

I thought maybe Paul Fierlinger might have interest for this, he always uses his mouse for his second monitor.
are you gonna place this tool it on DAO?

Try it out now guys... I've just uploaded a few fixes and option to choose between smash/normal sounds...

Glad you guys like it... I'm thinking of putting it up on DAO but I'd be kind of annoyed if I had to maintain two threads... maybe just mirror the file there and link to active discussion here...

Hmm.. I'd be curious to see what Paul thinks of the tool...

this last one is perfect!

the "play sound" options isn't simply turning on/off the sounds, but effectively "toggle" between 3 :
- "no sound",
- "playing normal sound-set",
- "playing glassmash sound-set",
am I correct?

I think it's a good idea too.

again thousand thanks, Lemec!

I'm curious what will be your next coded toy??? :D

sorry, but it does not work here :cry: I'm unable to set the combobox with this version ...
I updated the wacom drivers but the problem is the same ...

I think I did not understand all the steps to make it work properly ...

Can't someone explain them in french ? I'm lost ... and certainly missed something.

have you your wacom controler panel open?
and does it switch monitor1><monitor2 in this panel
when you hit the edge of your first monitor?

have you try to Exit, then restart wacswitch.exe?

for info, here's my .ini file :
[settings]
option_cBox=ComboBox2
option_cBox_i=2
option_wacCpl=Wacom Tablet Properties
option_applyBtn=0
option_switchZoneWidth=60
option_switchingMode=0
option_ramSwitchVelocity=30
option_ramSwitchTolerance=15
option_wacCplFile=E:\WINDOWS\system32\Wacom.cpl
option_sounds=0

Ahhh I'm so glad to hear everything worked out... Did you just have to get Zig's INI?

I love that ram-switcher mode... I'm idly "tapping the bottle" against the side of the monitor. I should make zig's settings default...

The first time, I used Zig's INI. I also tried to do all settings my myself just after the first try and it worked too.
