Panning tool to apply to group

Post by Peter Wassink »

Could we have an option in the panning tool to apply a shift (or wrap) on all layers of a group
i can understand it might be hard to let this preview
but to apply it to other layers after release should be relatively simple to program?
apply after release is how the tool works anyway.
so it would just be an addition of the option to :
Apply on:
Current layer
Current group
all layers

But, "current group" already apply your change on all layers from the same group... :|

yes...

i don't understand your remark.
its not possible now to apply the panning to either all layers or all layers of the group.
but only on the current layer

The panning, no, but the warp (you were talking about warp in your previous post) and the transform tool : yes :)

no.... i mentioned the wrap and shift options of the panning tool, i said nothing about the WarpTool Elodie.

any way on topic. if this were possible it would be very good.
i very often use the panning tool to tweek my spacing but when the element is on seperate layers you loose the great advantage of this method....speed!!!

Ok I misunderstood you so, my apologizes ;)

With panning tool, it's not possible, because contrary to the transform and warp tool, you don't have to apply the change : it's done automatically.

i understand, but is this a restriction of the current paint engine? because logically it would be possible
you shift an item on a layer and the stuff on the other layers of the group gets the same pan directly afterrelease... automatically
just an automation of the enter key actually.

Explained like this, that could be possible. But I can't confirm it :p

+1

The fact that you don't have to apply the panning tool is why I prefer panning over warping. (Unless I need to eh...warp something)

Use panning tool for multiple layers?

Post by Lukas »

Is there a way to use the panning tool for multiple layers?

I've tried everything but can't seem to move a layer without having to hit 'Enter' for all the other layers.

I've also used the transform tool, but it's inpractical because of the bounding box, (which appears around only the current layer and not the entire group or selected layers). And you have to 'Apply' it. And there's no preview, except for the current layer.

Am I missing something?

Ah yes, I read that before, I guess I forgot about it because I can't believe such a simple thing is not possible in such expensive software :S
