Remote control "stop" keyboard shortcut

Post by Joost »

When I preview my animation I use the spacebar to start/pause previewing.
But after previewing I can't draw immediately. I first have to go out of the "preview mode" by clicking somewhere in my layer or hitting the "stop" button on the remote control.
The perfect option would be to just be able to draw when I hit the pause button.
Otherwise it would be handy to be able to have the option to make a keyboard shortcut for the "stop button". But I cant' find a way to create a keyboard shortcut for it.

Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut for the "stop button" in the remote control?

Oh ! you're right. There is no "stop" in the fonctions list, when you want to modify your hotkeys.

Thank you for noticing !

It would be nice to be able to have a button for 'play/stop'

(like play/pause, but it stops when you press the same button)

This issue that you cannot immediately perform anything after playback, unless you click somewhere in TVPaint, is causing a lot of inconvenience, up to a point that people in our studio have lost their work, because they clicked "Save" with the keyboard and left the studio, but the file didn't actually save , because it was played before.
We had to instruct everybody specifically to click always in TVP before they hit Save.
It would be nice if that issue would have been solved.

I just assigned "Preview > play from current image" to a key, and it not only plays but also stops, then plays from the stop point again. Very nice, exactly what I need when breaking down a soundtrack.

I would rather call it a bug fix, than feature request. The problem here is that when playback stops, TVPaint isn't functioning, unless you click on it with the mouse or pen. So if you want to perform any keyboard action after playback, you still need to click TVPaint with the mouse, otherwise nothing happens. This is not handy when using preview a lot, especially on rough animation.
