while i studying Running on fire from one of Disney movies..
i just hit preview button before open the "study clip"
i realize it will be a very helpful if you included the same preview window inside the project "on top" as a reference panel
i thought before about Artrage reference panel to add in in... but i think this is more useful to have at most one or two windows like this with roller bar .. it will doesn't take much space from workspace
even you can add more option in the preview like ability to open many images "with different names" at once and showing the name of the each image inside instead showing number .. this will be great for model sheet and other footage reference .. and ability to pan and zoom inside the preview for each image
i don't know if it sound good for other user as it did to me... but i always wanted a reference panel inside
i using version 10 Demo for study and practice i don't know if option such this is already exist or not
Reference roller
Re: Reference roller
Eer, you know that you are asking us to modify the Windows browser ? It's not possible, this is the basical browser provided by Windows, we can't change itHosni wrote: i realize it will be a very helpful if you included the same preview window inside the project "on top" as a reference panel
Hmm, I don't know if it would be really useful. Usually, when you import an image sequence, it's for an animation.Hosni wrote: even you can add more option in the preview like ability to open many images "with different names" at once and showing the name of the each image inside instead showing number .. this will be great for model sheet and other footage reference .. and ability to pan and zoom inside the preview for each image
But maybe I'm wrong. Other animators, please give your opinion

Re: Reference roller
I think Hosni has in mind a Picture Palette along the line's of youngmonkey's plugin. I use these all the time; sometimes have as many as 15 or more reference images sitting on my GUI. They are either snapshots I found on the Web, or copies of my drawings from other scenes, or a copy of one of my rough sketches I didn't want to loose yet.
Then I think Hosni has in mind an expansion of these stills into the realm of videos. For instance, many of us use short clips of animal locomotion or water or fire -- something difficult like that, to play over and over again to study and then animate by; a model sheet in motion.
I second this request. My workaround is to have more than 1 or 2 or even 3 monitors; I have four, the fourth I leave unoccupied by TVP's GUI and keep available for imported YouTube clips etc. But for someone who doesn't have the deskspace for such an array of monitors, Hosni's request makes a lot of sense. It would be even better if such a video clip could be kept inside of the Panel Bins, to be brought out as needed, but always sitting on top of any TVP panels.

Re: Reference roller
Thank you Elodie and paul for response
but i found a way to work around it...
i just customized a VLC video player to open in many windows and set it "always on top" plus i found VLC is very handy that i can assign shortcuts to it while i'm active in TVP
i think it's covers most of what i want as long as i can open unlimited vlc windows
here is a snapshot of two windows opened on top of my tvp one is still image and other is video

Re: Reference roller
But can you scrub through VLC frame by frame like you can in QT (not that I am such a friend of QT, but it's the only player you can do that with -- I think -- or can VLC do that now too?)

Re: Reference roller
i don't know about Qtime ... but i already assigned a shortcut to play only one frame forward eachtime you hit "but there is no previous frame" but i can scrub back in time bar to a previous frame if the clip was short enough... and also the red blue button on the main toolbar play frame by frame and you can assign loop from point A to point B through the time bar
and i figure it now that i can make a footage of my model sheets and reference in one movie and then i can scrub between it through the time bar "for saving more work space"

Re: Reference roller
This would be a really useful feature. I usually use the quicktime player on my second-screen and added a shortcut, to switch between quicktime and TVP, but that's some kind of workaround, which requires a software for it (like Controllermate)
