Extract Toolset without dongle

Post by wollomat »

Hi!
My problem is the following..
I own the latest Tv Paint 10, 64bit, Win7. Installed on my Desktop- and on my mobile Computer.
Right now I'm overseas, working on my mobile computer, and just noticed I forgot to take the necessary Toolbar, with some Brushes I created especially for this project, at home
on my Desktop Computer. I never exported them.
There is someone who could access my computer, but of corse he can't open Tv-paint with out my Dongle, that I have here with me..
So my question: Is there a way to either open Tv Paint without the Dongle to export the toolset, or to find the toolset somewhere in the Windows File Structure, so he can send it to me?#
Is it maybe possible to send me a whole folder, or the Tv-Paint folder here?
Thansk for help!

It should be possible since I did it on my Mac successfully. But I don't know the Windows paths.

Eberything is explained on the TVPaint's FAQs :
Will an update wreck my TVPaint Animation settings? Is there some way I can back up my settings ?

Although it is highly unlikely that updates will affect your settings, it's always good to err on the side of caution.
You can find your profile settings in the following directories, in case you wish to archive or distribute them:

• Windows: open "Documents and Settings" => "User name" => "Application Data" (or "AppData" on Vista and 7) => "TVPaint Animation 10 Pro" and copy the folder "Default".

• Mac: open the "Library" => "tvp animation 10 pro" => and copy the folder "Default". /! on Lion, the Library is hidden : you must use the menu "Go to" in the Finder, then press [Alt] on your keyboard to display the Library.

• Ubuntu : open the folder "Documents" hit [ctrl + H] in order to display the hidden folders. Double click on the folder ".tvp", then "TVPaint Animation 10 Pro" and copy the folder "Default"

You can simply overwrite those "Default Settings" with any backups you've saved.

On a related note, daily or frequent backup of the "Default" folder contents is good practice. One reason is that it snapshots the state of TVPaint when you exit the application including any of the button contents in panels which have been modified or newly created, but not explicitly backed up as individual panels. The Config file (found in the "Default" folder) is important too as it contains all the dynamic settings in effect upon exit.

Likewise, copying the "Default" folder contents to other, renamed folders is a good way to snapshot the state of TVPaint frozen at that point in time.

If you attempt to restore a previous "Default" folder's contents, you should first temporarily rename the current "Default" folder in case of a mistake.

Let's face it. the contents of the "Default" folder can represent a huge time investment in customization of your personal TVPaint interface details.

That's been my experience anyway. Elodie, please correct me if I'm wrong on that?
