Few requests

Post by joonasjoonas »

We are working in a animation studio based in Helsinki and we are using TVPA in our current project. So far it seems to be a very good tool for paperless animation.

Few improvements that we would love to see in TVPA at some point:

When joining layers it would be great if the images in the layer wouldn't go to the beginning of the timeline.

When starting TVPA, I'd like to get the recent files too in the small popup window which shows the project settings. Also double clicking a tvpa file in Mac OS X open sthe software but doesn't load the chosen file.

The new rotation tool for the brush is really helpful, I was about to request that a while ago, but you guys already made it. can we get scaling too?

We've also been experiencing TVPA crashing (on mac) when scrubbing sound files, both aiff and wav.

Hiding all other layers but the one selected with a shortcut. is this possible already?

And we are looking forward to the xsheet and library in the pro version!

We just started a production blog at www.kowaii.tv and there are a couple of examples in the blog section what we are doing now using TVPA. Check the Ninja Babies Episode too!

for brush scaling, you can made your own custom button :
right-click on an empty space of your custom panel,
add Action/set Keystroke/Brush:Resize

it already exists : the shortkey (toggle Display All) is "="

btw, very good design in your stuff, Joonas!
please, put some samples (stills and anim) in the users gallery, here ! 8)

Thank you for your quick reply! These are really helpful.

We'll submit examples to our work to the gallery when we are finished with our current project, so that there's more to show.

i'm not sure if i understand this request.
do you mean scaling the custombrush?
because you can already connect scaling to pen pressure (only its called size.)
for manual scaling simply use the "z" key

i really loved the colors and backgrounds on Ninja babies

Thanks for the nice comments..Just for the record, Ninja Babies is layouted and animated traditionally with pencil and paper and cleaned up in flash and freehand. Some small animations are also done straight in Flash. BGs are done in illustrator and photoshop.
In kowaii.tv blog is some drawings and two clips of our new project Future's Temporary that are animated in TVpaint..Backgorunds are drawn with pencil and colored in Photoshop. But this may be a bit off topic..

Yes Ninja Babies was very cool. The clips from Future's Temporary look very good as well. Kowaii TV must have very big plans. The artwork is exceptional.

So what is the clip with the guy with a red cape and sword?
