I'd like to get a bigger Android tablet to use like a portable sketchbook, can anyone recommend one? How does the Kindle Fire stack up against some of the other tablets?

There is the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet, it has a great pressure sensitive stylus !

It also has a 1GHz dual-processor and for the screen : 10.1” WXGA (1280x800) 16:10 :D
So it's a good deal ( http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/thinkpad/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ):D
But its processor is a Tegra2, it could be interesting to wait until they upgrade to Tegra3, which is really better.

I heard about a possibly 10" Galaxy Note ? Don't know more about this one.

But in any case, choose a tablet which has a real pressure sensitive pen !!!

Not very many of them have pressure sensitivity, although some Googling revealed that the Galaxy 10.1 has Wacom technology built in... but it's pretty expensive and a bit bigger than I'd like. I found some 3rd party pens that emulate pressure sensitivity electronically, too.

It looks like it's about $500 USD, like here:

Don't see anything in the specs about stylus, though

that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 The one with the stylus is called Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I don't think it is out yet. But anyways it probably won't be cheaper...

If you want something smaller, there is the HTC Flyer which has a 7" screen.

Yes, if you see "TEGRA 2" go away.

i'm not sure that i understand fabrice's answer about tvp on android.

if you want smaller size tablet, also the galaxy note is already available. it has wacom stylus, which is theoretically better then the n-trig on the thinkpad. also the thinkpad has some strange issues, a next version with tegra3 could be a better option if you can wait. among the issues are pen not registering sometimes on some areas of the screen, power button fails for many people and sending the item to repair is regular because of this (although you can repair it for yourself, by which you void the warranty), miniusb slot used for charging fails for many people. one advantage is that it is thicker and thus there is a slot for the pen, where you can put it in (unlike the galaxy note), also it has full-size usb and card-reader slots. and i think both the current and forthcoming galaxy notes and the htcs with pen are significantly more expensive than the thinkpad.

i also don't get the tegra2->go away comment. is this sarcasm? my tablet works quite ok actually, all the bugs are either hardware or software bugs, i think they do not depend on the processor power much. of course i believe that tegra3 and other stronger processors can help to bring capable apps to android, like proper animation apps etc. yet now there is no tegra3 pressure sensitive tablet on the market currently, i think.

Not true on android, n-trig is a lot better than wacom ( even if the stylus need a battery ).

Yeah, HTC Flyer looks nice. I have a smaller HTC Inspire, which has a pretty big screen as far as the smartphones go (much bigger than an iPhone), but no true pressure sensitivity.

Hmmm ... I should have noticed you are new in the forum*, so you might not understand how we (tvpaint) use to work. Or did I do a french-only humour with the smiley ?
the meaning of the smiley was : As sales manager, I opened a topic related to Androïd just for fun, can you really believe it ?

So the answer to your question about tvpaint on Android is at the moment : *joker*
It has wacom stylus, which is theoretically better then the n-trig on the thinkpad.
Sorry but this is completely wrong. N-Trig is much more accurate than Wacom.

* have a pleasant stay with us btw. :)

I have the galaxy note smartphone, and the only thing stopping me from getting the larger galaxy note tablet when it comes out is that if I get something like the Samsung 7 windows slate I can run tvpaint on it.
