Help Menu/What's New in x Version

Post by Complainer »

This isn't necessarily a FEATURE request but would it be possible to please merge the help menus. Not everyone knows "what's new" off by heart and sometimes I spend forever browsing through the guide before checking the "what's new" section. The search engine should, by default, search through the help/guide and the "what's new" section. An even better solution would be to make them one and the same. The "what's new in x version" should probably be an introduction chapter in the help menu or something along those lines.

Third Item under Help covers exactly that (in your default browser)...

I'm not sure that you've understood; I was suggesting merging that with the other help menu. The point that I was making was that one has to search them separately rather than as one. It would be a lot easier for a user to get updated if what appears in the appendix also appears in the normal help menu. If I need help with something that is new, it should still be in the help menu as well as the appendix. Not every user is familiar with every single version of the software. I'm just suggesting that if what we are searching is not in the help menu, but rather, in the appendix, that it still gets found. Isn't the idea of an APPENDix derived from the fact that you are APPENDing something that already exists? It's fine to have it as a separate menu item but it should also have been added at the beginning or end of the manual in case someone just so happens to need help with something and then doesn't automatically know that the specific feature is new.

In the case of TVPaint Animation 9.5, which was a free update of TVPaint Animation 9, yes, I agree, user guide AND appendix should be merged.

But in the case of TVPaint Animation 10, which is a new full version, the user guide has been upgraded too, there are no appendix anymore. In TVPaint 10,the "What's new" only send you to our webpage, in order to inform users about what has changed between 9 and 10. It's not an appendix, what you need to learn how to use TVPaint 10 is already in the user guide. =)
