Copy Clip between two projects with different dimension

Post by Mads Juul »

Copy Clip between two projects with different dimensions also moves camera.
I consider this a bug a little.
I work with projects with different sizes depending on the camera moves. but the camera is the same dimension between the projects
project a 1920X1080 px camera 768X432 px
prohect b 1920X1920 px camera 768X432 px

If I copy a clip between these two project the clip images is centered around the middle of the new project but the camera is very simply just coppied.
that means it is offset comparted to the new position of the images in the newly pasted clip.
I would like the camera to be correctly adjusted to the new position of the images in the clip

Hm, I think this is asking for a lot of guessing by the software. BTW, does that mean that TVP 10 doesn't automatically scale and distort anything copied from one project to another, as TVP 9 did?

There are two "natural" choices for a basis point of reference in an image. One would be the center, the other would be the origin of coordinates (0;0). For pasting stuff into bitmaps the center point has been established as standard in most programs. This makes sense because it works for highly different items, plus a rule to scale or not scale anything which is bigger than the target project.

To use the other point of reference should work in your direction, I think. Maybe this could be a general choice in the preferences? "Use 0;0/center for copying between projects"?

I don't think so. I can obtain what I want through George.
I just think that when I have two projects with the same camera dimensions. no matter what the dimension of the project dimension if it is possible. i should get the same result when I press preview in the two projects. I cannot imagine a situation where I want the camera to move to a new position when copy paste so suddenly I only see a part of my drawing where I saw the whole drawing in the other project. It must be a bug.

Ah! Didn't understand this the first time.

So we'd need an option "place according to camera position", which of course makes perfect sense now.

we don't need an option. It simply just should work. I will post screen shot t to illustrate my point when I got time. to make my request more clear.
