Cursor requests and Colour Picker
Cursor requests and Colour Picker
Hi TVP,
I would like to see a brush size scalable circle and a slimmer cross in the cursor options.
And a circular colour picker like the one the talented Mark Chong has created for himself would likewise be very useful. ; ) http://www.youtube.com/user/moatddtutorials" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Kind regards,
Jesper

Use the key Z =)Jesoped wrote: I would like to see a brush size scalable circle and a slimmer cross in the cursor options.
Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
Hi Elodie,
When I use the key Z, I only get a red outlined scalable square...?
I'm thinking when you for instance have a 0.5 brush size, the circle cursor would be equivalent to that size - and so on.
What's your thoughts on a slimmer cross cursor design? Although I haven't used PhotoShop for years, I still miss the more subtle cross. ; )
Kind regards,
Jesper

Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
When hitting Z, you should obtain a dark red circle + yellow guids, to choose the diameter of your tool.
But it only works with TVPaint 10, not with TVPaint 9 !

Shoot! and I'm "still" on TVP 9.5. ; )Elodie wrote:When hitting Z, you should obtain a dark red circle + yellow guids, to choose the diameter of your tool.

It does sound to me a bit too complicated, I remember that PhotoShop likewise had a scalable circle cursor, there you just picked the size of the brush and then it just changed from that - no dark red circle, no yellow guides, just from one size to another with the ease of a simple click.
And if you (and everybody else in here ofcourse) have any thoughts on the whole scalable circle/slimmer cross cursor matter, it would be great if you would share them. : )
Oh, and while we're at it - what about a transparent arrow cursor, and then have one for lefthanded as well? (meaning ofcourse that the arrow is pointing towards the right) For me there is just something about a cursor that resembles the tip and direction of a pen.
Kind regards,
Jesper

Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
Have you checked the list of available cursors in Preferences? There are pens for right and left handed and other similar pointers. My favorite is Pen # 2.For me there is just something about a cursor that resembles the tip and direction of a pen.

Yes I have Paul, and my favourite of those is Pen 3. ; )
Paul, what's your thoughts on a scalable circle (as described by yours truly) and a slimmer cross - such as the one used in that darn thing that rimes with RotoFlop?
I would also love to hear what you think about implementing a circular colour picker in TVP. : )
Kind regards,
Jesper

Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
Sorry, I am not the right person to turn to in this department. I rarely ever work with colors and I am so accustomed to TVP's little pen that I have no quarrels with that situation either. But you are by far not a lonely voice on these issues and I think you can trust the developers to find a solution.

Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
I had forgotten about your creative liasons with the ever so talented Sandra... What a duo! You on the movement, she on the colour - must be a priveledge to have ones wife as a best colleague. : )
I value your honesty Paul, and I hope that others might join in on the talk regarding the aforementioned topic.
So, scalable circle and slimmer cross cursor requests anyone? Got more? Bring em' on! : )
And how about that circular colour picker folks?
As Paul stated, I can't be the only voice on this, so drop an idea or opinion in and hopefully it will generate some attention for the TVP Team.
Thanks,
Jesper

Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
The scalable circle would be good, in fact, there's another thread on brush outline or circle used to indicate brush size. What do you mean by "slimmer cross", though?

I will never understand anyone who draws with all that distraction circling their nib; don't you need to concentrate only on the point of contact, or do you use these geometrical shapes for other purposes than drawing. It reminds me of finger painting.

Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
Ah, ok... not as big of a deal breaker for me, the regular cross suits me fine. But the scalable brush outline and/or circle would be good! As I pointed out in another thread, even FOSS apps like the Gimp or MyPaint do this and is pretty much industry standard to do so and will help new users coming from PS, Painter, Gimp, etc. transition to TVP more easily. As a configurable option, of course -- "Show brush outline".Jesoped wrote:Row 4 next to that tinglin' magic wand. ; ) http://wd-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2 ... cursor.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;idragosani wrote:The scalable circle would be good, in fact, there's another thread on brush outline or circle used to indicate brush size. Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
I find it helpful so I can see what my actual brush size is, especially when using painting brushes (as opposed to pen or mechanical pencil when the cross is perfectly fine).Paul Fierlinger wrote:I will never understand anyone who draws with all that distraction circling their nib; don't you need to concentrate only on the point of contact, or do you use these geometrical shapes for other purposes than drawing. Re: Cursor requests and Colour Picker
For painting perhaps, but To use an oversize PLUS symbol to draw with baffles me. But I guess it's something that can't be explained easily, like having to explain a taste or smell without the use of references.
