As far as I know, we have already two versions: the Pro-version and the Standard.
In my eyes the cost effective Standard is actual a "Lite".
Our school bought it for our students who come here to start with animation. The Standard has many features of the Pro, and it is well-provided with everything to do for serious stuff, not a software only for doodling.

I'm glad to read this. It is actually concerning me a bit. will the rise of the Ipad and android tablet set back the development of tool for the professional 2d artist for years?
Because I can never do professional stuff with no keyboard and drawing with my fingers. only as a supplement to my professional setup.(Cintiq and Computer)

Is there a demo-version of this "TVP.10" version ?
(like for the formers… it would be interesting to play with it ?)

this will be my last posting on this forum as the only thing I see here is stubbornness and narrow minded views.
Not sure if asking for a lite version each time you post here can be called "support", but thank you for your wishes.
Elodie, you obviously don't know me at all, which is fine, you could have started by reading all my posts though. I think I have documented what a "lite version" should be pretty well in the past.

I have done a fair bit to promote TV Paint on my blog, in a school that has now more than 900 graduates and on different international forums and conventions but well....

Good luck for the future TV Paint, I hope you meet the success you deserve.

Don't be too patient, or you couldn't take advantage of the offer (the demo version won't be available before December 6th)

that said, I still have to illustrate the smear source mode.
I'm going to post some other screenshots about it, for the rotoscopy fans.

feel free to ask about any feature, I will try to illustrate it. :)

Someone asked me, so I'm writing it :

I don't have yet the exact list of features of TVPaint Animation 10 Standard Edition, but we already know that :
* It won't be 64 bits (32 bits only)
* There won't be the PDF export (html only)
* It won't be possible to set the layers rights (no password management)

Hello,

Does TVPaint 10 have a better way to use the color picker?
If you compare tvpaint 9.5 with Photoshop: It is much easier to pick a color in Photoshop because the color pick screen is more than twice the size of the tvpaint color pick screen.
Also in photoshop white is in the upper left corner, bright colors in the upper right corner, black colors on the bottom. In tvpaint it is different and therefore more difficult to choose the right color. Most of the times I use Photoshop to choose a color in stead of tvpaint.

Nope, the color picker didn't change.

But, the color at the top or bottom are respectively white or black., it does not change something to choose "white on the left" or "white on the right". It will be the same white. =)

Those who purchase TVPaint 10 will have its free upgrades (10.x).
And we have some plans about rules, guides, and color management (among other stuffs).
So not in 10.0 but it's planed.

As we are talking about drawing tools, I take the liberty to show you the new custom brush feature, "Smear source".

Smear source needs a source that you can define in the Shape settings panel. Smear source allows you to smear the source (spare, layer, previous image...) you defined with the A color. This option is really great for people who want to make “painted rotoscopy”.

In the following examples, I used a forest photography and different custom brushes from the new Tool bin :

:D :D thanks Elodie, I couldn't have a better example. The last one is impressive. Well done.

in addition : the smear source allows to have those changes (from photo to the final painting) on an other layer ! So it's not destructive.
