Scrolling issues with 9.5 pro on vista 64 bit?

Post by stefanvermeulen »

I upgraded my xp pro 32 system to vista pro 64 (have a W7 pro license but HP advised to install vista on my system) and 4Gb of RAM added.

I upgraded because I had some issues with animated brusheds dragging behind in TV Paint pro 9.5 . I suspected this might have had to do with not enough RAM .

Now this dragging doesn't occur any more but now I encounter problems with scrolling in the timeline. Both when dragging the cursor in the project panel as when using the arrows to navigate. It works fine when I start up in the morning but starts to occur later on. After a certain time when I want to navigate to the next intance I get a '(not responding)' message and I have to wait for several seconds before I get a response. During this time I can hear the disks working but there is little CPU activity (2 to 3 % during but a few peaks just before) . Memory usage is about 2.4 Gb while 6Gb is available. Then it might work fine for a few minutes and then happen again.

I suspect this has to do with how TV Paint stores and accesses data on temp files on the temp disk.

I tried both using the sysem disk (fastest) and the data disk as Temp disk and cleared some extra space on the temp disks (about 60 Gb), tried with proxy on and off and I can see no difference.

The project I work on uses live footage (video) to draw over sometimes resulting in over 1Gb files but even with 320 Mb files this problem occurs.

My question: is there a fix for this or an known incompability issue?

Kind regards,

Just a guess here: when I first import a video, it remains as a linked file on my disk and is not really part of the TVP file. After I changed something in that video in TVP, it becomes part of TVP's file.

Try this?
TVP 10.0.18 and 11.0 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
TVP 11.0 and 11.7 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
TVP 11.7 Mac Mini M2pro 32GB OS 13.5

Hi There , thanks for the replies.

I have worked with the video's on a layer inside the file for over a year now and never had this problem before so I wouldn't think this would be the problem.

I downloaded and installed the version have now end of august. I'll check if there has been an update since then.

Okay, downloaded and installed update. To soon to tell if this solves the problem. Will let you know.
Another question: the update states specificly that it's 32-bit, unlike previous install files.
Does this mean there's a 64-bit version too? Or coming soon?

Hi again,

updating TVP doesn't solve the problem entirely. Might be a slight improvement, hard to say (I work on different files).
In the meantime I wondered if there cold be any interference from f.i. adobe bridge?
Or if the number of layers is of any importance?

Hi Stephan,

TVPaint Animation 10 will be full 64 bits.
It will be sold on the website on december 6th.
