Importing Image Sequences in Any Format - Possible?
Since there isn't an "Import" menu in TVPaint, I can only assume that it is not possible to import external image sequences or video, at this time. But maybe I just didn't look in the right place for the option. Is my assumption correct? Will this be a possibility any time soon?
Thanks,

You must use the "File/Load" Menu or the "Open project" button, the second button of the menu panel.
Then select the file you want or any frame from a file sequence.
Hit OK button and then the Import panel shows up.
There, you have lots of import options such as
- many ways to resize the pictures to fit in your project.
- import as a brush, a new layer or in a new project
- with sound (ie for .avi)
- start end frames number of your sequence
- alpha
...
It is that simple!
Then select the file you want or any frame from a file sequence.
Code: Select all
Tip : Right click in the file list will open a menu with a Preview function.

Hi!
I'm a new TVP animation user and this is my first post at this forum.
I have a question regarding importing (loading) image sequences, I have no problem to load .png sequences but when I try to load photoshop (.psd) image seq, tvp will only load one, the selected image, and there is no option to choose to load the whole sequence as I can see.
The thing is that I save animated sequences from another animation program with intact layer orders, and it would be of most value to me to be able to load a whole .psd seq at once and then keep working in different layers inside TVP. Is there a way to do that?
regards Ulrik

Unfortunately Ulrik it's not possible to import a sequence in PSD format with keeping the layers organization.
There is a tip which allows you to import a psd sequence (try to load a jpg sequence then select your psd sequence instead) but you won't get the layers.
It's however a logical improvement to be made in a very near future...
Stay tuned

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that and I'm happy the intact layer keeping will be considered as an update in a near future. I'll stay tuned.TVPaint wrote:Unfortunately Ulrik it's not possible to import a sequence in PSD format with keeping the layers organization.

Any news about importing multilayered psd files as a sequence?TVPaint wrote:Unfortunately Ulrik it's not possible to import a sequence in PSD format with keeping the layers organization.

It's still not possible to bring a PSD sequence and retain layers.ulrik wrote:Any news about importing multilayered psd files as a sequence?
But why won't you do it in After Effects?
Open you PSD sequence as a composition, export each layer separately as a PNG sequence, and open each sequence as a layer in TVP.

Re: Importing Image Sequences in Any Format - Possible?
Uhm, you could still import PSD with layers into a separate TVP project each, distribute layers in time (with "link layers"), then export all frames, then re-import into TVP ...
I just wonder why you have a PSD sequence at all?

what you're describing is for distributing the PSD layers accross time.slowtiger wrote:Uhm, you could still import PSD with layers into a separate TVP project each, distribute layers in time (with "link layers"), then export all frames, then re-import into TVP ...
but what Ulrik wants is to import a sequence of PSD files, each file has several (identical) numbers of layers.
when you import such sequence into AFX, it creates a sequence out of each layer.
TVP doesn't keep the layers structure.
but to tell the truth, I don't know any software which does that apart from AFX, which is quite understood considering AFX is a sibling of Photoshop.
Ulrik, you can still do this with Photoshop's actions + batch processor.

Yeah that's what I want to do, and thank you for the Photoshop tip!malcooning wrote: .....but what Ulrik wants is to import a sequence of PSD files, each file has several (identical) numbers of layers.

Re: Importing Image Sequences in Any Format - Possible?
Stupid me, should've thought of the batch processor myself!

Re: Importing Image Sequences in Any Format - Possible?
In the timeline, the option "New > Import Sequence" will import a psd image sequence, but all layers will be merged on each image.

Re: Importing Image Sequences in Any Format - Possible?
Yes but I want the layers separated so a psd sequence with 10 layers will become a 10 layered sequence in TVP.Fabrice wrote:In the timeline, the option "New > Import Sequence" will import a psd image sequence, but all layers will be merged on each image.
