Playback on youtube may be choppy

Post by JM07 »

I tried to view my Wabbit Wainger video and Youtube is putting out choppy. Like every one and a half second it skips. So I hope that's not hurting the integrity of my video or making it to look like no inbetweens.

It is. In fact it just started getting choppy after I posted the link. Somehow, it seems that my open to link setting was changed to private and prevented you from viewing the video as well. I can't stand looking at my video now, it's just way to choppy and omitting up to half the frames there. It makes me cringe.

Can't blame you, but the piece has many other problems as well -- mostly with story telling. I too can't make any sense of the subject and it drags on for too long with not enough major changes of visuals to warrant the length ... a common problem with music videos.

Hi Paul, I agree with you in a way, that it has a lot of repeatable features, just like those Sat morning cartoons. This is just done to support the repeating nature of songs - like waves on a beach.

And how refreshing it would be if you actually came up with an entirely new version for every repeat; new settings, new time of day or year and set of characters for every repeat -- while the music went through its routine, like waves on a beach. But you already know this. I must say that I find your attentive attitude towards my remarks refreshing on these forums. It proves that you are sincere in your quest for constructive critiques.

Thanks Paul. You just gave me some inspiration on how to improve the video. I agree with you that the animation does nag on me when you see elements reoccur and people want to see new things.

What's the original format that you're uploading? That will have an effect on how they reencode. I don't see dropped frames on my YouTube videos (all uploaded h.264). And, does it drop frames at all resolutions? That may be part of the issue.

Heaven forbid that an animator might be 'strange'

It doesn't always drop frames, just sometimes.
