George command to retrieve AND set H, S and L for color

Post by Svengali »

It could be very helpful to be able to capture the Hue, Saturation and Lightness settings for the current color. Then in George, change one or more of the values, then update to new Hue, Saturation and Lightness settings for the current color.

Or are there George commands for this already?

Alternatively, maybe someone has written George Functions that can do the RGB to HSL conversion... both ways - if so, will you share?

Hervé,

Maybe you know some way to use George to read and/or write Hue Saturation and Lightness values for current color?

If not, perhaps we could have something like:

tv_GetHSL
parse result h s l

tv_SetHSL h s l

It could make color control and certain kinds of palette building much easier.

thanks, Sven

bump of longstanding request - Sometime back I had expressed a hope that we could have a new pair of George commands which would allow reading and/or writing the current color using hue, saturation and lightness instead of R G B values. Any progress on this request?

These commands would facilitate color adjustments in a much more direct way (especially by directly varying lightness and saturation).

Thanks, Sven

In hopes that the god of development is listening over here too, I'm bumping this request another time for a new George command
to retrieve and set H, S, L... :D

Still needed for proper image and palette color processing and such.

Another, renewed appeal for two.. no, FOUR new color commands in George:

tv_GetAPenHSL
tv_SetAPenHSL

tv_GetBPenHSL
tv_SetBPenHSL

Would allow an alternate approach to color mixing for tints and shades of existing hues - a much more logical/intuitive way to imply lighting with color - and help in scripts for the construction of Gamut mapping and limited or skewed color palette schemes.

I was hoping that TVPaint 10.5 would surprise us with some new George color commands for accessing and adjusting Hue Saturation and Lightness for APen and BPen colors.

We have had the HSL sliders forever and the values for H, S and L are already on display there in the color mixer Palette Panel. Why not give us George users access to them?

Is this possible? Is it to be? If not, then when?

Bump.
I'm still hopeful that we'll see George commands to read and set HSL like we currently read and set RGB?

Once again, I renew my ANNUAL request (first posted January 2011) for one new George Command that allows artists to read and set APen color using Hue, Saturation and Lightness values rather than the archaic R G B values that we now are forced to use when scripting color definition and change.

Red Green and Blue = computer-centric color manipulation

Hue Saturation and Lightness = ARTIST-CENTRIC color manipulation :D

Thanks, Sven
