Camera mechanics

Post by pam.darley »

After running Mirage for years, I've finally and happily upgraded to TVPaint! I'm excited to get into all aspects of production in TVPaint, but was curious if there are any tutorials or suggestions that might help me to create complicated camera mechanics (scene planning) in TVPaint? Thanks!

Hi Pam, welcome on the TVPaint Community :D

Hmm, we don't have video tutorials about the camera movements (except for the camera tool, but this tool is useful for "quick camera movements in storyboards / animatics").
I advise you to read the User guide, lesson 15, about the multiplan camera =)

The User guide is like a big 500-paged tutorial

I'd do planning like this the old-fashioned way: on paper first. If the result is somewhat finished, I'd transfer it to TVP if necessary and create an animatic to check wether it works or not.
TVP 10.0.18 and 11.0 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
TVP 11.0 and 11.7 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
TVP 11.7 Mac Mini M2pro 32GB OS 13.5

I work somewhat like slowtiger but not on paper. I use the Layer Notes section for scene planning (the white area on the very top of the Layer Panel where you can make notes). This way it stays with all the scenes and clips because TVP always opens on the first clip of any project.
