Individual settings For Canvas. Zoom, rotation, and position

Post by Mads Juul »

I'm making this thread to discuss if Somehow to be able to have individual settings for canvas rotation, position and scale. Would be good for TVPAint.
I began a thread herehttp://www.tvpaint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=4440
butwant to discuss it in it's own thread.

I think being able to move the Canvas : zoom , duration, and position for individual frames would be good for animation.
I will called it changing the Zoom.

For instance when you are animating a man walking across the screen.
If you want to make some subtle animation in the face maybe it would be better to move the zoom on the individual drawings so the face is ob top of each other. Even though in the animation he is moving across the screen.

But how could it be implemented. and is it a good idea or is it overkill?

I Made 3 GIF. Showing different Animated Zooms

1.without Animated Zoom as it it now. A man Takes 2 strides.

zoom_noKeys.gif (81.13 KiB) Viewed 15234 times
2. Animated Zoom with focus on the Body animation. Feet sliding
zoom_bodyAnimation.gif
3. Animated Zoom with focus on the Head Animation and Volume. Now it is easier to make subtle Head Animation

My first instinct tells me it's an overkill.
I understand that in order to develop new inventive ways of doing things digitally calls for looking at things from a new angle.
But i feel that by focusing on animating certain parts, and the zoom shifting accordingly, it will create an overall confusion in the stream of work over sequences of frames. Afterall, we need to think of the whole picture, like a screen, which is static in its nature, because that's the final output.
I prefer to develop my animator skills than to rely on such features.
By doing so much digital drawing, I already mourn my maimed real-life drawing skills...

Maybe you can bring up an example of how this feature is embedded in the workflow?

A part of me thinks so tor. The reason why I'm proposing such a feature. Is I'm not quite happy(But Generally happy I think its a great Feature that could be improved) with the out of peg feature(OoP).
Because I want to
1)Flip or Step Between my OoP Images With the lighttable turned off. and there still off peggede.
2) being able to draw on my OoP Image
2) I would like to be able to swap between my Drawings being Pegged and and Unpegged.(Checking volume - checking arc-checking volume -checking arcs.)

But that means the OoP properties must be connected to a specific Image(Like the Image marks so I guess its possibel) Instead of the Lighttable preview.

I feel This is an important feature and not overkill.
To flip between and draw on "OoP Drawings"

But how to implement that?

I also think it's a bit overkill. We can add features after features but it makes the software clumsy. I think in your example the way one can animate the face with Out of peg feature is enough. The main focus in a scene is the walking. If you need the subtle face animation you can cut in. But Mads, I also like your way to think everything from the new angle.
Keep up that!

You are right.

:-) Thank you

But Mikko you Don't miss the step between frames in the OoP Feature?

Off course the flipping betwen and drawing on off pegged could be good. But that's a bit different than the original request. But I always like to keep all the features as simple as possible. It makes me work fast. I fthere is too many options, popups, keyboard shortcuts etc. it slows me or at least it takes my thoughts out of the drawing. Mostly TVP for me is the traditional animation table made digital. I keep my interface simple I use it very "traditional" way. I don't take everything out from the features. More drawing less buttons and keyboard.

Actually this this is my Original request. And to achieve this a way was Individual settings For Canvas. Zoom, rotation, and position.
Got to think if there is an easy natural intuituve way for flipping betwen and drawing on off pegged could.

i remember when the OOP first came out i missed the reference to the outline of the images, like you have with paper.

when instances can be "out-pegged" individually it may be a good idea to show their original project outline as well, so as to get direct feedback on what their original position was.
This also makes it easier to align the oop frames on arcs.
