Render Storyboard Takes a long time

Post by Mads Juul »

I think the render of the storyboard takes a long time. can I do something to make it shorter?

my project is
Width:2880 px
Height:1620px
Frame Rate 25 fps
Duration:1106 frames
Number of Clips: 21

my Computer:
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 2.57 gHz
RAM 12gb

I render one japanese View And it takes 2 minutes and 24 seconds
Surprisingly long time.
It takes 1 minute and 37 seconds to render a full 1920x1080 lossless quicktime of the complete project. So how can it take longer to render 21 JPEGs and write some data?
I can see that there is also rendered a preview giff. Does this take time? I don't need the gif is it possible to disable the render of the gif like it's possible to disable the render of the notes/action7dialoge?

Yes, when you render in html, it generates a jpg file and a gif file (and it's the gif creation which takes much more time than the jpg)

And no, it's not possible to disable the gif creation.
Maybe you can try to select a smaller "files resolution" option (under the "small logo" option).

ok
This is a feature request then. Right now i'm rendering different Storyboards to see the different result. It takes a lot of time... I think I never will use the .gif for my render storyboard and time is money.

I Just tried to make a project with one clip with one layer with 10 frames
it took 4 seconds to render
if i made 40 frames it takes 14 seconds.
Then imagine a Storyboard/animatic I'm working on on 4000 frames.... I think it should be possible to disable the render of the gif...

Do you mean the "Preview Size" in the "Advanced Style Option"?

by the way is it possible
1)not to display the Scene and Clip info
2) Write 'Frames' instead of 'Duration'
3) Change the colour of the different scenes

No, on the first panel (with the list of all styles, and if you are not using the beta version :) )

Why hide the scene/clip info ? The box which contains the 3 parts (scene/clip/duration) will have always the same size.

I will see for the 2 others :)

Because I don't use the Scene And Clip info in my Storyboards only use the name of the clip which is in the title. So this extra information only Confuses My animators and my customers who sees it.
maybe it would nice to not show the Duration and the clip info.
I think it's important not to have information in a storyboard that is unnecessary because it will make people ask unnecessary question and create confision. like why is it scene 1? When I dont use the expression scene in my Produktion I only use
Sequence/Shot

I think it is important to inform people. But it is also important keep unnecessary information away from people.

In a storyboard I sometimes have the start frame of the clip(Shot). That could be a nice information to display in my animation.

Cool
And I hope you will consider making gif/sceneinfo/clipsinfo optional
