Particles Generator

Post by Sewie »

Dear TVP friends,

I have been fiddling around with the Particles Generator in the FX bin, trying to see what's possible with it and I'm wondering; Is it possible to use you own custom object as a particle? Like a custom brush, for example?

yes, select the source (browse...) and choose your custombrush where it has been stored, it works with animbrushes as well ... 8)

Which source? The one under the "world" tab?
And I didn't know I could store my custom brushes. How do I do that??

Ok, I see you can load in a picture (jpeg, for example) under Emitters > Particles > Shape > Source > From File. So you have to export your custombrush first in a different format. That seems to work!

But how does this work with animated brushes? Do you have to export a sequence of images first? I can't seem to load them in if I do...

Thanks.
This Particle thing looks very interesting if I can get it to work well. I'll play with it some more....

its quite a world that you'll have to get into, you can also start with a preset effect that comes close to the kind of motion you need and then customize it.

I tried that but for some reason it's a lot more complicated to me than starting from scratch. I'll play with it some more...

I love the particles generator, although I still which it had turbulence and stretch (motion blur). You can do a lot with it. Rain, snow, falling leaves, even a flock of birds. It can be very powerful.

Yes!these sound like good additions.
And i recently found myself wishing for a sort of "vacuum cleaner/ gravity spot", what i mean is the reverse of the emitter...an element that can collect the particles into a certain spot or area.
no idea how hard that would be to create.

Thanks, but site is down.
If I remember, these are tutorials that have to be paid for, no?

Yes. My site is down at the moment. I have to find a new web host. I will be redesigning it at some point as well.

Yes. The tutorials were to be paid for. They include about 3 hours of video explaining use of the particle generator in different situations and, I think, 18 new presets and FX bins.
