URGENT!! What did i press! Why can't I mark make or erase?

Being accustom to photoshop i accidentally pressed command + to zoom in to my selected frame, now I cannot access any tools without a beeping error sound and a circle with a dash in it popping up whenever i wish to mark make or erase......am i in some sort of mode that prohibits this? what did i press?! Art student...animation project due... HELP Please ASAP!!

Did you check if :
-the red cursor on the timeline is situated on an image (and not in an empty place)
-if your layer is activated (check if the little square is red or green. If it's red, click on the square and make green)

In doubt, could you please send a screenshot ?

The current layer is switched Off ( the red square at the left of your layer in the timeline ). You can't draw on an inactive layer.

Please if TVP starts to put warning messages everywhere, also provide the option to switch them off.

When i try to draw i get a beep sound and nothing happens... what is wrong?
are you trying to draw on a layer that is switched off?
are you trying to draw on a layer that is locked?
are you trying to draw on a part of a layer that has no frames?
is there a pop-up panel waiting for input that you overlooked or that has got hidden under another panel?

Actually this should never happen - a modal window must always be on top (that's what I've learned).

They are, but sometimes they are so small on big dual screens you just don't see them ...

OK, that makes sense ... and could, perhaps, be remedied by giving them a different colour?

I've been known to miss the big ones that are right under my nose too!
