A few interface questions
After a little series of surgeries, I have not been able to draw for awhile. I just downloaded the upgrade to TVP Pro and have been going through the manual to try to remember some things on which I am fuzzy. (Not from painkillers--just from forgetfulness).
I once complained that I can no longer hover my cursor over a tool and have it's name or function pop up. It seems to me you solved that for me but I can't for the life of me remember what fixed it. I did and still have inline help checked on full. Again I am missing these wonderful little reminders. How do I get the inline help to work on full, once again?
Thanks so much. PS I love the image markers.

Mouse or pen? It works only with mouse.

Yes, I remembered that's true. I have been trying the mouse.

Re: A few interface questions
the tool-tips work for me as usual. Also works with a pen, just you need to lift the pen up from the board (more than an inch) once you're above a button, otherwise the pen registers the movement of the hand and the tool tip won't show up as a result.

Re: A few interface questions
I don't remember ever hearing that the tool tips won't show up when they are selected in the Help menu. But I never knew about lifting the pen trick either (frankly, it's still easier to reach for the mouse). Maybe reloading TVPaint would fix that.

Re: A few interface questions
I thought of reloading it but since I just upgraded to the new one, isn't it the same thing?

Re: A few interface questions
Sometimes there can be glitches during the download process and things get left out or mangled. TVP is very easy to reload so it's worth the try I'd say.

Re: A few interface questions
Well, thanks to your idea, Paul, I again have the little tool notes. Reloading was the trick.

Re: A few interface questions
OK, I did get the little notes to pop up after I reloaded TVP, as Paul suggested. Now they have disappeared again. Along with that I'm still frustrated with trying to use the off-peg light table function. It works to reposition the image, but as long as I have the little o showing that the frame in question is off peg, I can't get my drawing tool back, I remain on the function that keeps moving the image around.
I wonder if I have something conflicting with TVP maybe? I am really stumped about both these things...but the off-peg is, naturally, much more important to me. I just went through the appendix that describes how to use the off-peg function thinking I must have missed something but I can't get it to work even so.

you have to select a drawing tool again to get out of "moving the off-peg image around"-mode.Sierra Rose wrote:OK, I did get the little notes to pop up after I reloaded TVP, as Paul suggested. Re: A few interface questions
OK, if I select a drawing tool from the Tool menu, it does let me draw. I was using one of my custom panels to get my custom pen and it wouldn't let me out of the move function. I've never had anything work incorrectly from a custom panel before...Thanks Peter...I'm good to go.

i have one custom tool that works directly after using off-peg but most others don't, but i haven't figured out what causes it. maybe someone else knows?Sierra Rose wrote:OK, if I select a drawing tool from the Tool menu, it does let me draw. Re: A few interface questions
Same problem too… You can also press "enter" to fix it…
… pressing "enter" when the red frame stay activ and forbid you to select some tool, allows any of them to be available again.
("lourdingue" mon anglais )
Actually, we had a discussion about it somewhere else on this forum…
… I - kind of* - understood that the former way to get the "off-peg function" working was - more or less** - depending on the "enter" key (in a "beta-test"version*** )…
… maybe a little bugg to be found somewhere there ??
*/**/*** as you can see, only reliable informations !

Re: A few interface questions
this issue could be fixed imo, I think when the custom tool is made of a custumbrush, it works directly, but when derived from an air/Pen/mechanical/pencil brush... (one of the first line of the tool panel), it requires an [enter] hit action before to get the tool "inking" effectively.Peter Wassink wrote:... i have one custom tool that works directly after using off-peg but most others don't, but i haven't figured out what causes it. maybe someone else knows?
to get rid of this, I've added a line Shape: Cancel (insert a command on top of the tool command) to all my custom drawing-tools which needed this trick,
exemple, my revised Blue Pencil of the Sketch Panel :
