scrolling in current project window

Hello Tv-Paint team.

It would be nice if it was possible to scroll in the current project window using the scroll strip from a tablet or wheel from keyboard/mouse.
=> one hand scrolling/ the other hand drawing instead of one hand scrolling and drawing

I have my tablet set up to do that with Keystroke: Left; Right and speed set to slowest.
But I also have two key commands set to:
Instance Panel: Previous Cel and
Instance Panel:Next Cel
and keep my finger hovering above those. Either way works nicely.

Hummm... That's basically the way a tablet works: one hand buttons/scroll and the other the pencil.

Well, how do you have your Wacom software set? You should select Keystroke on the touch strip and for up motion set left arrow and down should be right arrow. But you do have to be careful to use this very discreetly, because if you stroke too fast you are going to get way ahead of TVP and will have to wait for TVP to catch up with where you have pushed the play head. This is good just for incremental advances of a couple of frames, which is what you are asking for anyway.

Oh, about the mouse wheel -- this does not work with TVP, as far as I know.

I think you would be very happy with the shuttle pro. Enter shuttle pro in the Search window at top left and read some of those threads. It costs about $ 80 and is worth every penny. You get a perfectly functioning scroll wheel and 15 buttons to supplement your keyboard commands. It's awesome.

ps: the Shuttle Pro seems to be a very handy tool for video editing! I'll take a closer look to it!

You CAN use your mouse wheel to advance or retreat along the frames of a layer.

Once the ShortCut window is open (Control-K)...

Simply push the scroll wheel up (this highlights Wheel Up - left column) - slide the scroll bar for the right commands column to Layer:NextImage and assign it, then scroll the wheel down (this hilights Wheel Down) - slide the scrollbar for the right commands column to Layer:PrevousImage and assign that. Press OK.

You should now be able to scroll back and forth along the layer, one wheel-click = one frame.

Paul, I had to laugh when you said that this was news to you!
You posted in at least three different threads where I mentioned this shortcut, including one where you and I were the only posters

Anyway, as my repeated mentioning suggests, the mouse wheel is my favorite shortcut tool, and it's the first thing I set up when using TVP on a new computer. I wish there were a tablet PC that had a mouse embedded wheel along edge of the screen. Does anyone know if this exists? I attempted to take the mouse wheel hardware out of a mouse and make a little pocket-sized usb mouse wheel, but it was a disaster.

Also, I have ctrl+mouse up/down set to bookmarked frames and shift+mouse up/down set to exposures, and I set the auxiliary buttons on my mouse to ctrl and shift, so that I have three different kinds of mouse wheel scrubbing. This is a great way to check motion and really makes toonboom/flash animators drool.

David, I think that this is more a case of me truly not being aware of the new wheel assignment. The mouse wheel used to once work the conventional way in TVP (as did the middle button) but the developers had to disconnect it for reasons beyond my pay rate to understand. But I never new until now, that the missing scroll wheel functionality got replaced by what we have now, more assignable choices, which I think is great -- including the additional tips you give above.
