motion blur on effects

Post by JohnArtbox »

Can we get motion blur on all of the effects? Similar to the keyframer motion blur where you can specify the blur size and the number of steps. Effectively it's just repeating the effects application multiple times over the course of the frame and averaging them. I love using the effects in tvpaint because of their quick feedback and tactile nature, but motion blur is essential in a lot of modern work.

does anyone actually use motion blur for motion blur? It's so manually intensive, great when you are modifying something that doesn't have the motion blur information inbuilt, but ......
At the moment I've lengthened sequences by eight times, run the effects over the extended duration and then scaled them back for 100% motion blur which is still many times faster than using the motion blur effect unless it is a very simple usage. by scaling by eight then scaling back by 4 to get motion blur and crop scaling by two to cut out every 2nd frame you get reasonable 50% motion blur. I guess in theory I guess this could be done with a george script, but it's not something I've had any experience in.

Usually I don't use motion blur effects, but if I need to, I most often stretch the image and then erase parts I don't need, to get a customised effect. I agree that normal motion blur (in any program) is a very time-consuming effect. Don't know how they do it in big productions, they must use some very clever specialized plug-ins.

revision effects have a plugin called reelsmart motion blur http://www.revisionfx.com/products/rsmb/ which uses feature recognition and tracking to create accurate motion blur. It's a great plugin, and I use it in Fusion on my desktop system.
Is there any chance of getting external plugin support for tvpaint? Like After Effects or even a video friendly version of the Photoshop plugin from Mirage?
