I've tried to use the magic wand selection tool to select a zone from display (not just from current layer), like with the fill and cutbrush tools,
but I didn't find how to do it.
Is it possible to do it and I didn't find it ?
If not, then I add this as a feature request :
For the "Magic wand selection" tool add a "Source" setting like the one in fill tool with "layer", "front", "back" and "display" .

Re: Magic wand selection from display
workaround:
-create new layer
-custombrush: pick up entire display with option "display"
-custombrush: stamp in place
-now use magic wand select
-create new layer
-custombrush: pick up entire display with option "display"
-custombrush: stamp in place
-now use magic wand select

I found the lack of a magic wand to be shocking.
