old TVP Animation 8.6's Tool bin

Post by Paul Fierlinger »

For people who want to use again the old TVP Animation 8.6's Tool bin, you find it here.

To know how to install it, please have a look on this topic.
Has anyone had any luck opening this in TVP Pro 9.5.5? After I bring the tvpx over to TVP and open, I find nothing in the menu of Custom Panels -- unless I'm missing its name or something. I even tried Force reloading to no avail.

Hi Paul,

I've tested it, because I wanted to know how the old tools are looking. But I had the same problem like you. I only got an empty "Loading Extensions" window, but no tools. Also using "Force Reinstall" don't brings the tools.

I think the "no tools" look might be the new look since there was talk about that being a redundancy. I too am curious as to what might be in there that is still useful -- if anything.

If I remember correctly, there was a line tweak which worked better and in more subtle increments than the current George script we have available to us. I'd like to find out if my memory is deceiving me or at times still serving me well. Is that in there, Raymond?

Well, that's what it's called: Script: ab2_LineTweak.grg , and it did what Erode does now. As you can see, I still have it (someone converted it for me to work in TVP but it never survived all the upgrades and doesn't work properly anymore. Erode makes the line thinner in big increments -- Line Tweak somehow eroded my lines in a gentler way (maybe) .. .

oh I see now !
this script must be from the Mirage Animator's Bar v.2, I never had it (because banned by Bauhaus before its final release),
so I don't know what it really did.

yeap, to make a line thicker (add border), we have decimal increments, but it's not the case to make a line thiner, Erode_fx settings have only entire num increments :(
note : we have also an other (alternative) way to erode a line work, blur it and adjust the Alpha curve,
a workaround not perfect, but it works fine in some cases .

How do you bring in the Alpha curve? I don't see it anywhere in the Gaussian Blur.

not present in the blur FX itself, but add a new FX in the stack (Color/Curves RGBA).

that said, I've added these Erode requests in my list some times ago :
- sepate x and y values
- decimal available

maybe it's time to raise it up again, in perspective of the next V10 !

You're right; why dick around with it now since I don't even need it now... back to work.

or possibly a better (easier) way for the devellopers to make this improvement :
let allow negative values to the Add Border_FX (which one have already decimals) ! :)

Well, that's strange, because it does work on my 9.5...

Did you first select "force reinstall" and then, had a look in "Windows => Custom Panels => tvp_8_6s_tool_bin" ?
