New Student

Hey everyone!
I am about to start one of my animation classes next semester and I have to buy TVPaint. I was told I could use standard or Pro version. This is an entry level animation class called experiential animation 180. It is through the Academy of Art University. I was wondering if anyone feels I should just stick with the standard version. I would happily accept any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I was also wondering what the upgrade costs are. If I buy 9.5 what would it cost to upgrade to the next version when it comes out?
