Grid Panel defaults
Grid Panel defaults
Hello dear TVP friends,
In the Grid Panel, when its opened, the 'Snap' option is always ticked on by default. Can that be disabled, so that when it's opened, the snap function is like was when the Grid Panel was last closed?
Sometimes I use the grid repeatedly to (visually) measure distances, but it gets very annoying to have to turn the Snap function off every time before I can draw a freehand stroke. It's a small request (which could benefit the overall workflow) but I just thought I'd mention it...

Re: Grid Panel defaults
I have some remembrence people asked it to be this way because when they opened this panel, it was always to use the grid, so havinf to check the "snap" toggle everytime was annoying...
Obviously for your "non standard" use of this panel, it gets in the way, but changing it will make a lot of people unhappy (if not angry :)

Quicktime is DEAD. Get over it and move on !
Re: Grid Panel defaults
Really?? Do people find it handy that your line or brush keeps sticking to the grid?

Re: Grid Panel defaults
Why not have a custom default, let the thing remember its last use. I also use it 'non standard' ...but then... not alwaysematecki wrote:I have some remembrence people asked it to be this way because when they opened this panel, it was always to use the grid, so havinf to check the "snap" toggle everytime was annoying...

Re: Grid Panel defaults
How much work would it be to generally put a small "remember this" checkbox in all of those dialogue panels? This way every user could tweak it to his/her taste.

Hear hear, or maybe just one checkbox in the Preferences Panel.

Re: Grid Panel defaults
If the grid parameters could be scripted then you could easily set things up in the george startup script. (startup.grg)
I have the same gripe about the canvas resize on rotation checkbox, it always defaults to on.

Re: Grid Panel defaults
Dear TVPaint team,
I'll ask again:
Can you please, please disable the default snap = on in the grid panel?
It is so annoying to have turn turn it off every time I open the grid panel to check the composition of my drawings. If the panel remembers it's last settings, I believe, everybody will be happy.

Re: Grid Panel defaults
Yep - I would prefer Snap Off to be the default too, I don't think I've ever used the snap function on the grid or the guides.

Or just have the panel remember it's last settings, like I suggested.Yep - I would prefer Snap Off to be the default too

Re: Grid Panel defaults
This is strange, but I don't understand the issue because my Grid Panel always opens without the snap checked. As a matter of fact, it just remembers whatever I last leave it to.

Re: Grid Panel defaults
I just checked this on Sandra's computer and hers works the same as mine; it remembers the last setting.

Re: Grid Panel defaults
No, because I can't change the grid divisions on the field chart and animator field. Paul are you perhaps testing this on an unreleased beta again?Peter Wassink wrote: for now...maybe you could use the animator field for this?

If not, does anybody know why this works differently with my version of TVP?

Re: Grid Panel defaults
Well, yes, I am testing it on a beta, but I never remember it being any different and Peter's is most likely a beta as well. Actually, I have a standard version on my laptop; I'll look at that now.
