Quick questions from new user

Post by KenC »

I discovered TVPaint from a couple youtube videos and I saw a couple of features that I can't locate so maybe someone here could help find them.

There was a full screen crosshair drawing cursor, like the one you have when you draw squares and circle shapes, but it was on when drawing normally. It also looked like it showed when you were properly aligned to different angles. I can't figure out how to get that toggled on.

There was also a great colorpicker that looked like a cone with a hole in it allowing the user to pick from the canvas and it showed the colors that were shades and lighter that the one picked. It popped up right under the cursor when activated.

I see that TVPaint can have plugins so maybe these were plugins? I've been looking everywhere and also looked in the manual to no avail.

I'm currently playing with the demo and I'm super impressed so far. What realy won me over is that there's NO LAG even when using large document sizes and large brushes. I also love that you don't get "jaggies" when zoomed in/out or when rotating the canvas. I've been looking for something else than Painter that drives me up the wall with these issues as it frequently locks up for long times when the brush is to large.

The brush engine also allowed me to easily emulate a large flat Copic marker I been trying to create, something I haven't been able to do in photoshop or painter.

BTW has anyone from denmark or scandinavia purchased TVPaint? There's no dealer in DK so I'm a little worried what with having such a expensive product+dongle sent to me if I decide to jump on board.

About the yellow cross, this bug has been fixed into TVP Animation 9.5 (this update will be free to TVP Animation 9 owners).

You can download some of these plug-ins on the forum. You can also check the Content Sharing.

We frequently send packages in Denmark (Animation Workshop, Copenhagen Bombay etc...), Netherlands, Germany, Belgium... and all over the world (United States, Korea...). Our packages are sending via Fedex. It costs 40€ (whithout VAT) and takes few days for Europe. And the dongle's price is contain into TVP Animation's price.

Don't hesitate if you have other questions :D

Oh the cross was a bug? I actually liked that I thought it was some kind of guide system like smart guides in PS, oh well no biggie.

I'm still chewing my way though the manual and playing around with everything. Comming from years of photoshop and painter I feel a bit like a fish out of water :D

Better than contacting him through the Military Police (MP) or Member of Parliament (MP) you should contact him through PM, or Private mail (or Post Menstrual Afternoons). The wonders of acronyms.

I might be wrong but I think the full-screen cross-hair cursor that Mark uses is one of his customized options. You might ask him about that too.

Yeah I read about that, rocknroll something I think it's called. There was also some perspective stuff that in that I liked because I hate drawing perspective lines all the time. It was quite reasonably priced so I might get that one along with the ppallette that looks awesome to.

I use PPalette ALL the time... absolutely worth having - one of THE best color mixing solutions around. Mark's other plugin I don't have or use.

Sven

tip. If you keep the PPalette interface visible, any time you create a button where the APen and/or BPen color changes, you should always insert as the last line: Set Plugins > Perceptual Palette > Refresh PPalette Display...

which keeps those PPalette APen and BPen colors current. :D
