Layers Panel for Stills - less complicated view
I use TVP for stills as much as for animation, and the layer panels is overkill in this case. I'd like to be able to have a smaller layer panel similar to the one shown.

in the preference under display you have an option " vertical timeline"
maybe that could be of use.
Though this mereley locks the same layerpanel to the side.
a special redesigned vertical timeline would be nice to have.
i'm not sure if i would favor a panel for only stills, when i'm doing stills i often use an animlayer to make subsequent versions next to each other

I too believe an image timeline panel is necessary. I use TVP for illustration alot, so I requested a panel as such some time ago. I hope it'll be implemented soon.
In the meantime, by selecting a vertical timeline from the preferences panel, I can bring it to its most minimal state, which is not bad to work with on a wide screen:

have someone tried Mark's "Layer Companion" plugin (2006) on tvpa v.9 ?
Layer Companion 1.0
What it is: =====================
- it is a little layer navigator widget that expands when you put your mouse
over it. It zips up automatically when your mouse leaves the window.
- you can use it to select layers individually
- you can toggle the display of all layers or just the current one
- you can pick colours (more on that later)
What it isn't: ================
- it is NOT a full-blown layer editor
- it is mostly just useful for selecting and navigating through a lot
of layers, not for rearranging and setting them up

I haven't tried that plugin on 9.x, and I don't know where to find it now.ZigOtto wrote:have someone tried Mark's "Layer Companion" plugin (2006) on tvpa v.9 ?
Anyhow, I remember that it was a neat plugin, but it didn't quite cut the bread for me.
I would prefer the layers panel to have customizability, because It's a good panel, only somewhat too fat.
