"My dog Tulip" nominated to....
Re: "My dog Tulip" nominated to....
btw, it's called "Meeting-Event", not a "Masterclass", it should be a difference ...?
afaik, meeting events are free-entry (with accreditation badge),
Masterclasses are not free, you have to reserve and pay your place for being there.

Re: "My dog Tulip" nominated to....
I don't believe there are any master classes scheduled and the confusion resulted from people saying, "it's like a master class." I still haven't heard anything from the festival organizers, but it is still weeks away and to organize such a festival must be a daunting task. I read somewhere that they are expecting 7,000 visitors.ZigOtto wrote:btw, it's called "Meeting-Event", not a "Masterclass", it should be a difference ...?

I admit I said MasterClass maybe too fast.
I think the festival organizers will give the right name.
As far as I know the entry will be free.

they are many in the fulltime organisation team, and many of them with an old experience, beside, the team is reinforced with a seasonal squadron of (unpaid) voluntaries few weeks before(?) and during the festival, so I think the least from them would be to inform the involved personnalities of anything concerning them and their Annecy's time-table, and to get back their agreement before any online publication.Paul Fierlinger wrote:... Red card to them !
and up to 300 journalists/reporters from around the world ! ... are you ready for compliments and/or harsch critics, Paul ?Paul Fierlinger wrote:... I read somewhere that they are expecting 7,000 visitors.

Re: "My dog Tulip" nominated to....
I've been there. I've had the audience boo my film at Ottawa one year and I've seen people get up and leave the theater when we tested Tulip too. I've seen people do these sorts of things to many good films made by other animators. It's never fun but since the question is 'are you ready?' my answer is yes, by which I mean I won't be taken by surprise. You should see and hear what the audiences put directors through at the INPUT screenings!! (Best of public broadcast films from around the world -- each year the event is held in another country.) I have never heard such brutal questioning anywhere else and I must say most of them are asked in a well intentioned and constructive way, which makes the experience helpful to everyone in the audience, including the director of the film.are you ready for compliments and/or harsch critics, Paul ?

you know, some anime fans, who have only eyes for "Gobelins" or "Pixar" like animations could be a bit "mordant" in front of your so peculiar style (and narration), but I don't worry for you and your ability to argue and conduct your own case !
I wish you the best, and, why not, some fructuous meetings from there !
btw, will be Sandra along with you in Annecy ?

Re: "My dog Tulip" nominated to....
Raymond, as you were writing that I was watching a report from Cannes on CNN and I have to wonder about all the monster and shark films being presented there. It used to be that film festivals were designed to bring the best and most innovative (read "original") to the public. That is how the world heard of the French New Wave and the Czech New Wave a few years later and before that the Italian Neorealism and each one of these labels represented original thought and film making techniques in content and style, thus the art of film making was advanced from year to year. Not so anymore. After watching that CNN blip I had to wonder if any of this should interest me, because the twenty something child who was reporting was very obviously simple-minded and lacked any degree of sophistication. Annecy was once all about the art of animation but is the festival like that anymore? I'll have to just wait and see.
