hello.
after working for maybe 12 hours alltogether just to find out some basic routines, i decided to post one after another here. till now, tvpaint seems to be the program with the most horrible workflow to me. but maybe its just that Im used to adobe stuff too much and the rage I´m in for 3:40 hours now because of the following problem:
I habe a project 1920x1080 and a image 3000x1080. I finally managed to scale it right. now i want to move the image, so i see first half first, then move it via position keyframes to see the other half. I use the effect-motion-keyframer to drop keyframes an move the image, so the preview shows me the correct movement. but anytime I proceed and apply the fx, nothing happens in the final clip. I tried it about 25 times, having nearly anything selected before hitting apply. what am I doing wrong? i restarted etc. the tvpaint help shows exactly the way i did it.
move a layer: keyframes for position - how to?
Re: move a layer: keyframes for position - how to?
The recipe in a nutshell:
Project 1: your HDTV project
Project 2: your big image.
Both open at the same time.
In Project 1 you create an empty animation layer of the desired length.
Then go to frame 1 in the timeline and open the FX stack with the Keyframer. Select the image in Project 2 as source under the "render" tab. Tweak the position, then create a key with pressing the "C" button. It should appear as a "+" in the anim layer.
Go to last frame and change the position again. Another "+" appears.
Select all frames in the anim layer. Hit "Apply" in the FX stack.
I recommend to train this workflow with 2 much smaller projects first.

thanks alot slowtiger - with the second project and the sourceselection it worked!
something else: everytime i (re)start tvpaint I have to rearrange my workspace, all the brushes and everything else again. Isnt tehre any possibility to safe these basic settings? especially when tvpaint collapses i get quite mad. all this strange things take so much time.
