Noob Question: filling and de-select marking

While the easiness of any single keystroke combination may be questionable, it never was for the introduction of a coherent system of those. Apple gets not praised enough for developing their "User Interface Guidelines" IMO. This was the first framework which urged application developers to standardize their user interfaces. This is the reason why it was so easy to use dozens of programs on the old Mac: all the common commands had the same common keystrokes. I could even use them on a japanese system without being able to read the writing, just because the commands held the same position in the menus!

Unfortunately those days have gone. Apple doesn't force developers as it used to anymore. Cross platform developers don't care much about the existing GUI APIs of different OS, or are restricted themselves by the framework they use. For me, Mac user of 15 years, this is a big step backwards.

Among most graphic applications interfaces are somewhat standard. If you have a some experience working in different graphic software programs you can quite easily find your way through most other applications. TVPaint's interface is radically different from most commonly used software. That is my experience. But it doesn't have to be a problem, as long as one can change the layout of the interface somewhat (which is possible in TVP) and apply one's own shortcuts (which is limited in TVP) . So you don't have to radically change your workflow when shifting between programs. For example; "ctr-shift-s" is usually a standard shortcut for "save file as" (be it from the stone age or not) but this keyboard shortcut can not be applied for the "save file as" command in TVP... Why is that ? To me it's quite annoying.

I just think there's room for improvement there.

I made a Custom Panel button for that one, as I have for many other common functions, and keep these docked to the Project Panel. What can be more efficient than having to make one light touch of a button with your stylus? This is just another huge advantage of working paperlessly.

I disagree. A keyboard is better for me for fast work since I hit the right keys much easier than hit the right button with a pen.

Well this thread is booming, so I will jump in again..

I would like to push the "Copy" issue a bit further and actually questioning the action of TVP's copy feature.. )
I mean what would be simpler than just mark what you would like to copy(ctrl-C) then paste that where you want it (ctrl-V)
Now, and please correct me if I'm wrong, you have to take the brush Tool, mark what you want, cut it out, then place it where you want it(I'm not even going to talk about the scale and rotate:-) then you have to click the subPixal BUT that don't even give you a good copy, just a bit blurrier...then you have to click the screen to place your copy.......well for me that procedure is much simpler with two clicks Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V

I know I sound like and grumpy old photoshop dude, but I still cant understand why you, when developing a software, don't look and learn from a software that is indisputable the most used software for digital artist in the world...???

When Photoshop 1.0 was born in 1990, it's goal was to work on photos, the painting options came a few years later, and the animation features ... well

When TVPaint 1.0 was born in 1991, the purpose was to draw with the stylus and a few years later, it was to animate.
We have always kept the same shortcuts, workflow, etc ...

TVP is different and we are proud of it !!

But I am not asking for TVP to become something else or some other software. Just give us a broader choice to implement our own shortcuts and make TVP more adaptable to our individual workflow.
