Travelling with TVPaint and Tablet

Post by Sierra Rose »

We are starting to think more about our trip to Rome in April. I know some of you travel back and forth to Europe. Do you take your tablet with you in your carry on? Do you have any problems with the security people over your dongle?

I could ship the tablet, dongle, software to my son in Rome before we leave here, but it would be more convenient to take it with me. I would be interested in any advice about this. Thanks...Sierra

I've been to Denmark, Sweden, Italy and France with my TabletPC and never had any troubles with having it in my carry-on luggage. As long as the computer turns on (that's what they usually ask you to do) it's not a problem.

As always, check with your airline's policy on any sort of carry-on electronic equipment.

Have you traveled from the US since 9-11, though? My concern is Homeland Security being overbearing. Anyway it's moot now, but thanks for answering. I'm leaving my electronics at home for a couple months, just going with pencils paper and a good battery-powered sharpener.

My girlfriend just travelled Berlin - NY and back again, with a Wacom tablet in her luggage. It was obviously searched, but no problem.

Thanks, my fear is having my tablet in my luggage, the way they knock it around. So I was going to put it in my carry on. Hence, wondering about getting that and the dongle through security here. Probably it would be fine, but I was wondering if anyone else had done that. Anyway, I'm taking a vacation from electronics and going back to good old pencil and paper while in Rome...3 months won't kill me, or will it?

As long as Homeland Security doesn't view the pencil as some sort of stabbing threat...

Just take your dongle and flash drive with your files in your pocket -- if you get bored you can buy/borrow a laptop there and continue your work.

But then I wouldn't have a tablet and stylus...I don't think I could draw with a mouse anymore.

I know, that's the most important point. I don't know what kind of traveler I will be since I am basically such a home body. But seeing my little grandson will make it all worth it.
