Pencil width values change
Pencil width values change
OK, as you now have witnessed, I sometimes work in a rush, without a plan, and not really taking care of where I exactly click on the screen ... But still I think TVP shouldn't start to behave like myself!
I noticed when switching between rooms, timeline/Xsheet view, and enlarging/reducing my project view, that my pencil tool didn't keep its width value. I have no idea where that could get triggered from, since I carefully disabled every tablet or stylus option.
Anybody else experiencing this?
(Completely unrelated: yesterday I demonstrated TVP to a fellow animator and it was a blast. "So simple, so fast!" were her reactions. Now she starts to save for a cintiq and a license.)
(Again completely unrelated: I've heard the HFF in Potsdam aquired a bunch of TVP licenses. I think it is time to start a real TVP user group here in Berlin!)

Re: Pencil width values change
I must say that every once in awhile I experience random changes in my pencil width, always downward; never bigger, and I have never posted the phenomenon here or on the beta forums because I have no idea what triggers this and how to replicate it. One more thing I can add to your observation is that I'm not sure that it is necessarily connected to switching between rooms.

Re: Pencil width values change
I think we may have found the problem :
In fact, the size of the tool stay the same. But since the project zoom value is different in each room, it gives you the illusion of a size modification for the tool.

Re: Pencil width values change
No, I don't think that's it. The number value for me goes down typically from 2.00 to 0.50 and even 0.10, which I can't even set with a slider.

Re: Pencil width values change
Hmmm... I use two. In room one I draw with one which is mapped roughly to the size of the project window, and in room 2 I use another pen which is mapped to cover all three monitors and I use it only to make notations in the Layer Notes area, never to draw. The pen's width always changes going back to room one, not the other way around and this doesn't happen all the time; right now I can't replicate it.

Re: Pencil width values change
Ha, maybe I found the explanation:
Just by accident I noticed that the pencil width changes with the scroll wheel of the mouse! Since usually I draw with the stylus, I didn't think of that, but I just tested something and drew with the mouse and voila. And I didn't find any entry "mouse wheel" in the tool options.
I must have bruised the mouse wheel with my elbow unintentionally.

Re: Pencil width values change
You are most likely right because the mouse wheel can bring the value down to 0.10. I'll be darn; I can see how I could brush over the wheel myself -- it doesn't take much at all to move it.

The same with the (Wacom) touch strip too, and it's buggy sometime, nothing to see with TVP though.Just by accident I noticed that the pencil width changes with the scroll wheel of the mouse!

Re: Pencil width values change
I took care of this by disabling the function of the scroll wheel just for TVP. My mouse is a cordless Logitech MX Revolution and worth every penny -- it can be programmed individually for each software, besides many other teicks it can pull off.

Re: Pencil width values change
No problem for this, I have tried playing around with it myself but to no avail so far!. Glads for your thoughts anyways, If anybody else knows how to draw a 2px freestyle line with the pencil then please feel free to drop a reply.
Re: Pencil width values change
Well, you just have to enter "2" in the size. =)
