RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
Hi
Is there a way to reset or delete the Audio drop down list?? I mean the list of audio files that appear in the meni when you load a track.
I have been working in a project with several audio files and now I am working un a new project and I already have a long list of all the audio files I have been using for the previous project. Is getting longer and is a little bit confusing.
Thanks!!
David

And I'd like to add to that the option to thin out the lists of templates in the Startup Panel. And the list of Custom Panels clogged with Tool Bar, Tool Bar, Tool Bar mistakenly created during the learning curve.

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
Maybe should we limit the number of item in each list ?

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
That would be a good start -- but is it really a big problem to make items deletable? I have no idea what's technically involved in something that seems to be to many of us a simple matter since save, save as, rename and delete options are all over the software and Internet spectrum.

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
I just realized that Vegas has a similar issue with listing projects and you can't delete or do anything there either. But they have a nice system where you can set in preferences the length of the list. The choices are from 1 to 9 and 9 is sometimes not enough for me.
What's nice about this system is that when the list becomes cluttered with repeats etc., one can set the count back to just 2 or 3 and start building again according to current needs. It is simple and works quite well.

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
Yes. I think limiting the lists to 10 items will be fine. The last 10 items.
The same in the Custom panels list. Everything is in the Custom Panels folder so if we'll need an old panel that is not listed we just need to loaded back. Right??

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
As long as you have backed it up somewhere -- I think. This has changed somewhat now and I am a bit confused, but I backup every panel anyway, by exporting it to the TVP Development folder, where it stays together with its .bin.

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
a "Delete from the list" command (with user's confirmation step) would be fine to me,
just to sweep away the repeated (double-triplicate) panel names.

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
I agree that this would be the best of all options. I am just thinking ahead that if the answer is that to delete isn't all that simple to implement than we have other options.ZigOtto wrote:a "Delete from the list" command (with user's confirmation step) would be fine to me,

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
Personally I think the "Delete from the list" action is to make the things complicated.
Why not just leave it like the "Open recent documents" option that all the good programs have?? The last 8 or 10 loaded items. That's it. Simple.
Everything stills in the computer is just not showing it.

Re: RESET OR DELETE AUDIO DROP DOWN LIST
Deleting a file in the list could be confusing ... people may think that they will delete the file itself from the haddrive.
I would prefer to select the length of the list in the preferences.
