Are there certain codecs that should be used to be able to create a video DVD.
preferably using quicktime.
Does anyone have tips how to go about it.
Paul Fierlinger mentioned the Vegas NLE software for DVD authoring.
But is it possible to make a playable DVD just by using TVP and a DVD burning software?

Re: how to export to DVD from TVP
Peter, there are many tools available.
Here's one (Shareware):
ConvertXToDVD / it's a German site, but I think you will get it.

I am using Premiere and sometimes Encore and by now I'll give Vegas a try.

Encore is (also) for to make menues, multi-languages etc. - usually you don't need it for a preview-DVD.It's a DVD-specialized tool.
Premiere (for sure until 2.0 Pro) is able to export mpeg-2 and produces self-running preview DVDs:

I second the notion for Vegas. If you don't want to shell out the money for the full Vegas package (over $600 USD), you can get Vegas Movie Studio or Vegas Platinum for a bit less and still get the DVD authoring tools.

in case your Os is Vista (not many here it seems) it has Windows DVD maker, which is very easy to use and quite practical for simple tasks.
