i can't remember how I did this before:

Re: cut through layers
Ah, sorry; I overlooked that last remark. Where is DeepCut anyway? I know I came across it when I was browsing through all the nooks and crannies here and could not come across it again. Might I have wondered into a Mirage file without knowing it, thinking it was here?
EDIT: what does retaining all layer structures mean?

Re: cut through layers
DeepCut is now embedded into the functions of the CutBrush. Just use the tool as it is, but tick the 'display' box in the tool menu, and it will cut out through the layers. (see attachment)Paul Fierlinger wrote:Where is DeepCut anyway?
meaning that I would cut an image (one frame or more) including it's different layers, and then be able to paste the image, as it is, with its layers, in a new project.Paul Fierlinger wrote:what does retaining all layer structures mean?

Re: cut through layers
Brilliant. I hope you get yours -- I remember vaguely dhomas making a plugin that does that but have lost track of it.

Re: cut through layers
I have a custom button which basically extracts the Current Frame to a new project.malcooning wrote:... meaning that I would cut an image (one frame or more) including it's different layers, and then be able to paste the image, as it is, with its layers, in a new project.
In its actual state, it works only on the current frame, and doesn't manage layer's pre/post-behavior .
I will try to extend its smooth working later, when I'll get some spare times .
if you are interested, let me know .

Re: cut through layers
Would like to know how to be able to do this too! For quite lengthy bits I go via "split project" and "copy / paste" the layers into the project I want them to be in. Regards, Conny
Re: cut through layers
When you "deep cut" a brush, it still because a normal animbrush with just "one layer'.
The layer structure of the project you cut from is not retained in the brush, only the display.

Re: cut through layers
I was never sure how to do this. So my little workaround (if the project was not to huge) was to hit modify project (making absolutely sure you do not have the "remove project" checkbox enabled), and just deleting the unwanted layers, flattening the rest and cutting a brush from that. Its really not that huge of a hassle if you do not have to do it real often.
Howdy Yaaaal!
