Ex-Mirage User w/ ?'s on TVPaint's HD-Res HardWare Req's

Post by sadwinkingemoticon »

Hi!

I used Mirage for a while, but eventually stopped using it as I decided I needed to focus on drawing rather than animation for a time.

Now I'm almost ready to give animation another go, but since ceasing to use Mirage, I've discovered TVPaint, and am considering purchasing it instead of re-installing Mirage and using it again. The primary reason for this is because I was unable to do work at professional (HD) resolutions in Mirage without the audio and video going out-of-sync with one-another, due to frames of animation being skipped or delayed. At the time I was using a system with 4 GB RAM, but now I've had to go back to a system with only 2 GB RAM. I'm using a modest install of WinXP, without any junk running in the background.

My question is, will I experience the same difficulties with TVPaint, in this regard, as I did in the past with Mirage? I've got the demo of TVPaint downloaded, but I haven't the time to begin a HD-resolution project complete with timed soundtrack in its demo version just to find out the answer to my question.

If I am likely to encounter the same problem, then may I ask what hardware components I must upgrade to overcome it, and whether you think TVPaint better in terms of performance in this regard than Mirage?

Thank you very much! Bye!

;(

Hi,
Welcome on the TVPaint forum!

You can use TVP ANimation for HD stuff with your current system. You just need to adjust your playback paramters in order TVP Animation to correctly play your animation during the preview.

For information, a lot of work has been done on playback preview since Mirage. TVP Animation will play your animation in function of the speed of your hard disk.

If you want some advices to upgrade your hardware for HD, you need:
- A lot of RAM (3GB is the maximum on Win XP 32bits)
- A speedy hard drive
- A powerful processor

Technically, no application can use more than 3GB on Windows XP 32bits. But you can have more than 3GB.
