Animators feature :
An option or switch to make linked instances (instances with he same name) "hot linked"
meaning that once an instance is named and copied it you change one of these all other with the same name will change too.
and you might have to think about signifying the difference between a custom named instance and a dynamic named one ( the tiny dot after the name 001. is a bit subtle)
Even blender grease pencil has this now.

Re: hot link instance copies
TVPaint already supports this function but it must be initiated manually via a custom panel script.
I agree that having automatic linked instances update would be a great step forward, glad to see greasepencil recognize this and clip studio has always had this from the start as well.

If this function works via a custom panel script then I think the developers should integrate it directly into TVPaint rather than the function existing only as a custom panel script which many users will never know exists because they do not visit this forum regularly (or ever) and are not aware of such custom scripts.TVPUSER wrote: ↑22 Jul 2024, 09:52 TVPaint already supports this function but it must be initiated manually via a custom panel script.

It exists in side of the Handy Custom Panel managing instances section
known as "apply current content to instances with same name"
first you must "realise instances" by doing some form of renaming them, otherwise it does not work.

Re: hot link instance copies
I first thought of using Xsheet in Japanese anime production, where the same materials are often used.
This function of TVPaint causes inconvenience because creating many layers, so I switched to this function of HandyCustomPanel, which is recommended.
Of course, it would be ideal if instances with the same name were constantly updated.

Yes, I think that’s the function I was hoping would be baked-in to TVPaint, to allow for instances with the same name to be automatically updated.Hironori Takagi wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024, 01:36 Of course, it would be ideal if instances with the same name were constantly updated.

Re: hot link instance copies
Maybe the two options 'clone/link' and 'duplicate/copy' can be introduced in the 'copy and paste' command, where one links both drawings and the other simply does a copy.
Or something that could be setup in TVPaint's preferences where the default 'copy and paste' command can be set as 'cloning/linking' and not duplicating.
