Cintiq Pro 27 ( 2022 Ver. ) Pen Lag

Post by cf-mankit »

Hello TV Paint Team,

Recently there's been this phenomena which isn't debilitating but quite a nuisance.
Some brushes, and I suspect actually all brushes but to varying degrees displays a pen lag when only drawing at the top of the screen.

When I draw in the bottom half of the screen the lag disappears.

I have included a video of my issue.
Currently I just simply avoid drawing at the top of the screen, so I have half a screen.

My setup

MacBook Pro M1 Max 32GB Ram
Studio Display 27" top orientation
Wacom Cintiq PRO 27 ( 2022 Ver. ) bottom orientation
MacBook Screen Right Side Orientation.

Hello cf-mankit, did the issue start appearing overnight? After a TVPaint update or any modification was brought to your machine?

Could you try running TVPaint in low res mode as shown on this thread, please? https://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php?t=15417
For users of later versions of macOS, turning "Low Resolution Mode" on should be done as follows:

-You would have to close TVPaint
-Access your "Applications" folder, right click on TVPaint and select "Show Package Contents"
-Access the "Contents" folder and open the "Info.plist" file with TextEdit
-Right before the last "</dict>" tag, add the following line and save the file: "<key><NSHighResolutionCapable></key><false/>"
-Open TVPaint again
Probably a vampire

Hi Dean,

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I will try what you mentioned and keep you posted.

In that thread you mentioned I tried what others have tried.

- Mirror Screens ( no effect )
- Lower Screen Resolution ( no effect ) ( higher resolution scaling increases more lag overall ) ( currently using 2560 x 1440 scaling )
- Turn Off Tip Double Click Distance ( no effect )
- Turn Off Tip-Up Assist ( Wacom Pro Pen 3 Function ) ( no effect )

I have an old Cintiq Pro 27 ( pre-2022 ver. ) at home, and will double check if the issue exists on that panel as well.

The issue started around midway from when Monterey and the current update.

thank you,
