Renderer

Post by daninski »

Bit of a fantasy request...
I'd find it really handy if there was a standalone rendering programme that I could queue .tvpp files in with one setting for them all and click go. No need for a display or anything, just a rendered that doesn't need a dongle so I can use other computers to render and keep working at my workstation.
Does that make sense?

That completely makes sense. The only problem could be that there isn't something like a "render queue".

Glad I'm not the only one who'd like something like this :D

The render queue could be in the rendering app. You would line up the project files in there.

Sure! It would be really useful in a lot of cases. Just yesterday I talked to a friend who is currently working on a project which has HUGE dimensions (like 10.000 pixels in height) and was surprised how well and responsive TVPaint handles this size. Unfortunately all his projects files for this job needs to be that big and exporting takes a lot of time and resources (apart from the big file size). Since he has another computer he could export it on a another machine and still working this way.
For example in After Effects, where you have a render queue you just need to drop the file with items in it on the render engine, which works great (in most cases) but TVPaint probably would need an own dedicated software, which works independently from TVPaint, which would be great, but looks like a lot effort.

Sure, the renderer is a good idea, however this would require to "freeze" the project that is being exported in any case.

Still I agree that it should be possible to continue editing another project while exporting. We'd need to ensure that the application remains stable.

My suggestion would be a separate renderer that you load your TVPaint project into. Like Compressor for Final Cut Pro.

The renderer would have to be paid too, or bundled with a TVPaint licence : we can't give it for free, otherwise if you combine TVPaint Android (free) + Renderer you'd have a full fledged solution for free and we shut up the company within two years !

That said, I like the idea. Easier to implement than an export queue within TVPaint. I'll add this to the list as a separate entry.
