The "crop tool" in CBPaint 2 can not be "undone" with the undo button.
This can be dangerous if you just "played" with this button in your project.
On the other hand there is the question if this tool really makes sense in CBPaint or not because if you render your project it will be blown up to the full PAL (or NTSC) resolution again.

It's normal that the crop tool isn't "undoable", because the result of the action is a totally new project. To undo, just close the new project .
And for your second question, on the necessary of the crop tool, it is usefull, but maybe more for an "internal" use ( to make custom brushes, ... for example ).
