I would like to see TVPaint include an automatic repeatable pattern maker.
More and more I like to include repeatable patterns as part of an animation background, like for floor tiles
or buildings. (a series of windows)
Rather than pasting a brush down several times, I'd prefer to have the computer calculate the pattern.
I like he look of doing it by hand, but I also like how a pattern looks when done by a machine, like a loom, or a computer.
Photoshop has a repeatable pattern maker, but who wants to work in Photoshop? Not me.
It would not have to do the drawing for you. The kind of app I mean is that you draw your art work, you place the artwork into
a viewscreen, place the art where you want it, and the computer figures out how to make it repeatable by width and height.
Thanks
Gochris

Thank you Svengali, but I don't understand what you have written here. What are you trying to tell me? THANKS
Re: Repeatable Pattern Maker
A fast way to create a pattern with a brush: set the brush distance to 50%, press shift and draw a line over the screen. The brush is stamped evenly, it's easy to add more lines like this and thus fill an area.

Re: Repeatable Pattern Maker
Aaaaahhh yes! Now I have it. That solution didn't occur to me. Thanks to Sven and Slow Tiger!

Re: Repeatable Pattern Maker
An easy way to create a "tile-able" pattern is by creating a project with the desired tile dimensions and use the panningtool set in "fill" mode.
you draw your pattern in two sessions... first the center... then use the pan tool to pan that first part from the center of the project to one of the corners.
now you can finish the [attern and you have a seamless tile, which you can place with the keyframer in the fxstack for instance.

Re: Repeatable Pattern Maker
Ha! Thanks Peter for those screenshots. I was aware of how to make a tile-able pattern but I had overlooked the fill checkbox in the Keyframer! I had always used the multilane camera for tiling because there was a pull down menu that was obviously for tiling but there was no way to control the angle of of the image on all the axis. Keyframer has these options but I didn't realize you could tile with it but it is right there, the fill checkbox! Magic! This is so incredibly useful to me right now thank you.
Maybe that is something for future releases to have both these options in the Multiplane camera and the Keyframer to be named the same for clarity.
