Exporting one frame BUG

Post by Joost »

Hi,

I just noticed a BUG in TVP 11.5.3

When Selecting only one frame, and then trying to export it, the in point is always set on frame 1, not on the selected frame.
So, it will always export more than one frame.

Hi Joost,

Could you please post a short video of your issue showing your export settings as well?

Thanks.

Hi,

Here is a screen recording.
When selecting multiple frames, it works fine. But when selecting just one frame, it messes up the in and out point...

Thank you for the video.

I can see that you are not using the "Single Image" option:

Could you please try select it and try to export your single frame again? It should work as expected.

But... I want to use render the selected frames. Sometimes these are multiple frames, sometimes it's just one frame. A sequence of one frame is still a sequence. I don't understand why TVPaint is just ignoring my selected in-point.

Why doesn't it just export the selected frames (regardless how many frames I have selected). Now I have to turn this check box on and off all the time I want to export something.

Can you explain why this was changed? This new method seems to be much slower for me.

Thanks!

Or is there still a way to keep the settings to "sequence" and render just one selected frame without having to select "as single image"?

(maybe I missed something)

In version 11.5.2 it worked differently, right?

Those Mark In and Mark Out points were designed to work with Sequences only, hence why it's ignoring your single selection.

We may be able to try implementing an automatic switch to the Single Image setting when a singe frame has been selected :-)

Thanks! That would be nice!

But it was also how I always used it until TVP 11.5.3.
The way it was in TVP 11.5.2 was perfect!

Besides the fact that I think we should be able to export a sequence existing of one frame,
there is also something strange going on when I DO select the "export single frame" option. It looks like it overwrites another frame I exported with a blank frame.
It's hard to reproduce it, but when exporting three single frames, I had to do it over for ten times, because every time something else was wrong.
In tvpaint 11.5.2 I used to export single frames all the time without any issues....

I agree with Joost,
when exporting a sequence with the "All frames" option switched off,
the sequence should always be the selected range, even if its a range of one.

Peter, would you also say that the same applies to the "project: display" tab ?

not sure if i understand your question.
Indeed i think in the "project: display" tab, the selected range (even if its just 1 frame) should be respected when exporting.
just the same as in the "clip: display" tab.

or do you mean what should happen when you have multiple clips selected in the project view?
first it would be nice if it would be possible to set a frame selection on the projectview timeline similar to how we select a frame range in the clip timeline.
(that would be a feature request)
But if you have, say a project of 6 clips and selected two of them then an export would have to show us the mark in and out of these two selected scenes and not just the current clip.
