TVPaint crashes when loading a video at certain frame rate

Hi,
I just started using tvpaint using a friend's computer and it seems to suit what I'm doing well.
My problem is the following:
I need to load a video to edit, but TVPaint crashes every time I've tried to load it into a project with the same frame rate. I've tried several times adjusting the different settings such as Preload, stretch, etc. However, it loads sometimes when I load it into a project with a different frame rate setting. I'm slightly worried about changing the framerate, etc (there is audio it is synced to).
The file properties are:
avi 1.0
divx5.03
119.881FPS
704x396 pixels 1.0

latest version of tvpaint regular
sytem specs:
vista 64
xeon
nvidia quadro fx


I tried searching the forum and FAQ but didn't find a solution. Any help is much appreciated.

nevermind. figured out the problem was with the decoder. the installed xvid codec was decoding it and causing problems. uninstalled that and installed divx and everything is fine.
