Separate "Import" and "Open"
Sometimes I want to open an image or video file in TVPaint, so it creates a new project which fits the file I open and sometimes I just want to import a file into an existing project. Is there a reason these two commands share the same point in the menu? Could they be separated?

Hi, did you manage to import a video file into an existing project using File->Open/Import ? from what I've seen, it would always create a new project.
If you need to import a video file into an existing project, I'd advise you to use the "import footage" action from the layer menu :

Ah good to know! But sometimes I would love to create a new project from an image. Is this somehow possible?

Sure, just import the image file the same way you would do for a video, it will create a new project with one single instance.schwarzgrau wrote: ↑13 Aug 2021, 13:35 Ah good to know! But sometimes I would love to create a new project from an image. Is this somehow possible?

Re: Separate "Import" and "Open"
Usually when I start TVPaint it creates an empty project with my last used resolution (let's say 6000x1000 pixels) when I then choose "Open/Import" and choose an image with a resolution of 1920x1080 it just get's imported into this empty 6000x1000 project instead of creating a new empty project with 1920x1080 and importing the image. This is what I would love to achieve. Just opening it instead of importing it or first need to look up the resolution of the image and match the resolution of the empty project to it.

When you Open/Import a new image , select Project tab in the Import window to create a new project at the same size as the imported image.
