Path Recorder confusion

Post by IceDelight »

I'm very new to TVPaint Animation, so sorry in advance for the noob questions.

The main problem I'm having is getting to grips with the Path Recorder, how can I draw a line for the path without being able to see it in the final animation? I can make the line the same colour as the background, but then I can't see the path I'm drawing. Also this method won't work if I have background details.

That's it really, that was my main problem. I also have problems with other stuff like camera movements, but I think I just need to practice using it. I find the manual to be quite technical, and there for confusing for me. It took me ages to figure out that I have to select the images that I want an FX to be applied to (using the yellow box thingys).

Things like the Keyframer and Multi Plane Camera would be excellent subjects for video tutorials. I think it would make them easier to understand.

hmmm... not sure to get why you need that, but it's easy, here some different ways :

1 - draw it with a "solid" drawing tool on its own layer, then hide this layer when exporting your final animation,
2 - record the path with your pen tool, then Undo, (then add it to Bin),
3 - record the path with your pen tool, size connection on Pressure (or Fade), Profile flat down to 0, (see pict.)
so you can draw and record "invisible stroke", or gesture,
but I can't see any utility for that ... ?
:)

Great thanks! I'll try out these methods.
